wouldn't be here without him

Hello everyone I have had my little casper since he was 9 weeks old and he is now 6 months, I wouldn't be here without him, I suffer from depression and tried taking my life before I got him but now he keeps me going, like tonight I feel really down but I just cuddle up to him and he is here for me like he senses it. I owe him my life xxx

Oh Dan I know how it feels hun, I to suffer with clinical depression and my boy has turned it all around. Walking being a great help to this condition I have a reason to get up and out in the fresh air every day.

Ah thanks for an update Dan, remember you trying to choose Casper's name Staffie's really are just the best therapy dogs; I suffer from anxiety but it's pretty much under control, however when I was suffering from PTSD Biscuit was just wonderful. They're such sensitive dogs and really do pick up on your mood. Glad you've got him, and him you! You sound like a wonderful owner. As others have mentioned; the forum is not only a place for support for our dogs, but owners too.

I know exactly what you mean, I too suffer from depression, I've had it for 10 years now on and off and for the last two years it's disappeared, Axl is now 2 years old and I always say he has saved my life

They are an absolute god send, daisy really helps me too, if you need to talk we're here, quite a few of us suffer from these kind of illnesses

I got Harry a couple of months after my husband died, we had
Staffies all our married life and I have always credited Harry
for saving me when I was widowed and didn't want life to go on.

I'm glad you have been helped by a Staffie too.

Staffie owners/lovers are special people  

I'm glad you find the strength to go on each & every day! Our babies somehow make it all ok don't they. You hang in there and remember you have a tonne of support froM us all here. Get those extra cuddles fro aspect as often as you need x

They can be very stabling, gives you a purpose to life Xx

Depression is one of those words that people now throw around all the time. If you suffer from it badly it is very difficult to handle. It is uncanny, I think, how many of us here have similar difficulties. I swear doctors should prescribe Staffies along with medication, exercise and friends that are on your team.

Dont worry mate your not alone. My ex was suffering from severe depression and refusing to take anything for it. I talked her into taking in a rescue staff cross called riley and she hasnt been happier for years. In fact hes done her the world of good and she is so so much more happier.
People forget than humans and dogs have evolved together over time. Its only been the last 80 or so years out of 15000 that we have become less dependant on them. We have such an affinity together and they learn to know us inside out. You cant get anything like the bond between human and dog anywhere else. I truly beeive they are our soul mates and thrive on our love as we do theres. In short, with you dog...your in good hands. And as your now in touch with us all here youll never be alone as we all share the very same feeling towards our toothy, snoring, shedding, burping, farting and ultimately loving dogs. I couldn't be without mine now...id be a basket case
