Tip killed her first bird

Killed a little Kiewiet and my children are upset. Explained to them that its a fact of life. She is a dog with a high prey drive, on walks. joggers also trigger her chase drive so I keep a firm hold on the leash when we encounter them. If things run she seems compelled to chase it.

Like you say its their natural instinct, some have it more than others!

We had a long talk and they understand that she did what comes naturally to being a dog. Told them we would just be a bit more vigilant when we walk her. I also assured them that it was so fast that the bird didn't feel pain.

Aww yeah staffys are quicker than people think,last staffy 'family dog' use to kill birds all the time,you would think a bird would have a good chance to get away
