Question : Bathing Empty Question : Bathing

Post by KMDT Tue Dec 17 2013, 14:54

Hi All,

I have quick question regards to how many time should we bathing our dog. We take him to park on the weekend which he gets to play with other dogs means get mess after walk. We tended to shower him after walk once a week since he loves our sofa and wanted to keep clearn for both of us.

Is that too much for dog to shower once a week?  confused

Please advice.

Thanks,
Kaz

yes really it's too much, bathing a dog to often strips the natural oils in their fur and can cause skin irritation.

I tend to bath once a year at most.

I only bath Biscuit every few months.. generally only she's rolled in fox poo or thrown herself in a bog lol! Weekly is far too often... is he just muddy? A wipe over with a damp towel should be enough to get rid of that Smile

Moo gets a quick rinse if she has been in the canal in summer, other than that we never bother Smile

I think Rocky has only ever had one proper bath since we got him 3 years ago, over bathing can strip the skin and coat of natural oils and cause irritation.

I only wash Katy if she's rolled in fox poo which is usually once a month but if just muddy I towel her off. She rubs the remaining dirt off on my carpet  Laughing

Dempsey gets a bath after our August holiday (because he smells of sheep sh1t!) and just before Christmas (because we don't like eating Christmas dinner with the overwhelming stench of dirty dog!). Other than that, just a wipe over with a towel.

I have been known to rinse Darcy's feet in the shower if they're really bad but other than that I bathe her every couple of months Smile

I rarely bath the girls, Lola does have a strong smell and could do with a bath more often  Laughing

Daisy gets a bath once every few months, I find just wiping when muddy and brushing keeps her clean and not smelly  Smile
