Post by RhysM Sun Sep 29 2013, 15:31

here a r a few photos of our 8 week old pup pandora. we were told she is blue/blue fawn and we were expecting her to be the grey as i though that was blue so im abit confused to be honest. in the sun she has a blue almost shine but then at times there is a brown type colour which im guessing is fawn ????

Pics are not really showing her colour properly, can you not take a pic in the garden the light may show her colour better Smile

She's very pretty, but it would help if you could get a couple of photos outside - the colour will show better in daylight.

From those photos I would say she isn't blue brindle, but without proper light it's hard to tell.

Where did you get her from? I saw someone advertising 'blue' pups near me that definitely weren't blue. They were black, and she was trying to sell them as dark blue...

This is Bruno. He's blue. In certain lights his actual skin looks blue, and his coat is a silvery grey.

She is gorgeous, and the picture of her on her side showing the brown, slash darker patch down her back is at that age the spit of our Rolo.  At that age his colour in various lights would always look different, it had a blue sheen through to looking black but when he got to about 9 months it settled down. He is now, a real rich brown, with darker points from his feet up, a darker streak that runs from the base of his neck all the way down to his tail.  We have had so many "experts" call him all different colours from Brown, to chocolate to what we now believe to be Seal, (American term, and disputed a lot over here so we have found) either way she will get a lot of attention for being what she is and that is gorgeous!  In the middle photo's i've tried to show the streak a bit, but it always depends on the light.  Rolo came from a Blue male to a brindle bitch mating, he is what he is, but I can see the similarities to your Pandora, especially the picture of her on her side.

I can see the dark patch you talk about only seen it before with a real dark red and it was termed as a really heavy smut marking ( Tommy is smut but seen as a darker stripe down his back and a dark tip to his tail )

Who knows?? We've heard so many opinions they all end up disagreeing with each other. From it's a pit colour to it comes from the Boston terriers?? Some love it, others frown upon it Sad  I stopped looking for a definitive answer, Rolo is Rolo, and that suits him Big Grin

There isn't a colour called Brindle Smut. The smut markings are only seen on reds and fawns - especially on the muzzle, a darker stripe down the back and continuing down the tail.

To be honest, the pup in the op's first set of pics looks more liver coloured than blue, but colour can change a fair bit over the first few months.

So cute! Our Jasmine is Blue with a slight brindle marking. As their skin stretches, their colour changes, but although i dont think she is blue, i do love her colour!

I so hope you didnt pay extra for the so called 'rare' blue. It is not rare, and we paid standard price for our KC reg blue pup x

Zeus mom is blue and dad is brindle. He looks light grey (with light brown brindle underneath) in daylight but looks very brown at home in the evening. I am curious to see Zeus coat once he gets 10 month or so. Very cute!
