New Member Introduction

Hi my name is Chris and I live in Perth. My husband and I have been Staffy owners since 1994. Our first Staffy was one that our youngest son Brenton found tied up in a storm water drain and that began our families love for Staffy's. Since then we have had 3 and 3 of our children have them as well. Our second eldest son Bradley has a gorgeous tan female Sam and our daughter Claire has Kiku a female black and white one. At one time we had 3 generations in our family, our eldest son Matthew had Kudos, we had her daughter Kairo and our daughter has Kairo's daughter Kiku who is 9. Kudos' lineage could go back to about 1850 something obviously in England and she was just the most adorable dog. Very sadly our son lost Kudos 3 years ago and we lost our adored 12 and half year old girl Kairo in January this year. I belong to a Staffy rescue group and we were looking for a small female but we saw a gorgeous male one in the rescue group and thought we could give him a forever home. We took him on trail but unfortunately it did not work out. He was an American Staffy and therefore a bit bigger than the English ones and we think that he came from an abusive background and sadly we just did not have the training and knowledge to deal with his behaviour. So we went back to or original plan to get another female and I am going to look at one today to see if she is suitable to join our family. We are so excited and really hope she will be ok. Her story is quite sad really as her owners are giving her away because they now longer have time for her as they now have a baby and don't want her any more. So that is my introduction to why I joined this group.

Thanks everyone for your lovely welcome words. We went and met the family and it was really quite sad. The lady was leaving the house at 5am and not returning until 7pm and she felt really bad that she could not spend any time with Kass the dog. She also has a small baby so by the time she got home and fed and bathed the baby and fed herself it was nearly bed time. Her husband works away so she felt it best that Kass went to someone who could give it the time and love it deserved. She would still like to know how Kass is going and has offered to dogsit when we go away. She suggested that we take Kass for 2 weeks to see how we go and also that is when her husband is back so he could come and say his goodbyes to Kass. So we brought Kass home with us and she has settled in very very well. She is the most beautiful dog, very loving and obedient and loves to be right next to you for snuggles and belly rubs. She has met all of the other family dogs and gets on well with them all. Today I took her to a dog park and she loved it running around with the other dogs and having fun. Tomorrow will be the first day I will not be home so it will be interesting to see how she goes. I will be home at lunch time for an hour so I can check on her. Our daughter's house does not have good fencing so she brings her Staffy over every day while she goes to work so Kass will have company.
