Hi I have a female staffie cross. She turns 1 next month but unfortunately she has not shown any signs of starting her season. When her mother was her age, she had already had her season. Should I be getting worried that she has not shown any signs or am I worrying to much.

If you are concerned mention it to the vet next time you are in. Sorry I cannot remember how old my first dog was when her seasons started, so long ago now.

Straight from google Smile

When will my bitch have her first season?
Depending on the breed, a bitch can have her first season at between 5 months and 24 months of age, smaller breeds tend to have their first earlier than larger breeds. Also each bitch is different so therefore the same breed can have their first season some distance apart. It is good to be aware that your bitch could have her first season from 5 months onwards, also speak to your vet as they will be able to give you a clearer indication of when your particular breed of dog tends to come into season.

But for me Tilly was about 6 months old,, I don't believe its a big problem as they are all so different but you could always speak with your vet Smile

My pup is the same age and is having her first season now. I was getting a bit worried too, no signs, just started one morning. Is she crossed with a larger breed? Might make it happen a bit later...just a thought.

My Bailey is 13 months and hasn't had a season yet. Vet said not to worry. She is a staff cross, don't know with what, but she is a very athletic dog and vet said she might not have one because of this - like female athletes not having periods
