Hi folks

I'm little concerned as penny is 11 months old and still hasn't had her first season. Is this something I should be worried about

Well, it's a little on the late side but not all dogs (like humans) are the same.

Just a tiny, tiny thought - it has been shown that females living in close proximity (like nuns in an convent for example) gradually (and why I can't begin to guess why) coincide their cycles.

When is Mimi's next season due?

Ah OK I thought you might tell me that.

I hope other Staffy bitch owners can come along and reassure/advise you.

Its a wee bit out of the standard time scale, if worried pop to the vets and ask to see a nurse for a chat. Xx

As far as I can remember a spayed bitch would not have a season again if the operation was done correctly. Sometimes some of the tissue can get left behind after the operation and she could fall into season again, she could also become hormonal again.

Pop to the vet or phone just to be on the safe side.

Sorry it's Penny who is not spayed who I'm worried about . Mimi is spayed and has no issue.
I rang penny's breeder and he said it's nothing to worry about he said some bitches take up to a year to come in to heat.He said she might be a late bloomer.

'Normal' is anything between 5 months & about 14 months, so I wouldn't be concerned at the moment.

Hi,
Stella was 11 months old as well (approximately) when she had her first season. And she is fine:-) Longer "childhood" I guess;-)
