Puppy pack walks Empty Puppy pack walks

Post by Kazzy&honey Mon Mar 11 2013, 19:19

I love taking my honey out for walks meeting other people and their dogs. My honey is a very sociable puppy. In my local area I'm trying to organise puppy and dog pack walks with other owners. I managed to get it in the local paper but no response yet, even though a few people I spoke to were very interested. I'm getting my girls to design posters now. As much as possible I want my puppy to be sociable and carry on being with others. I hope that others will respond to my ad some day Smile

Ask at the vets if they do any classes or walks, I do one for blind dogs Smile

Great idea! I should have done that when Logan was a pup and things would be a lot smoother now I think!

You could try putting up a printed copy of your ad in your local vets and pet shops. I always see ad's like that when I look on the noticeboards Smile

You could maybe have a chat with your vet to see if there are any other like minded owners in your area to arrange a walk with.

Failing that maybe check out the link below and raise some funds for guide dogs along the way:

I did meet a lady in the vets last week with a staffie and funny her name was karen too. We did laugh. She asked for my number but I haven't heard from her yet tho. She seemed very interested.
Many thanks for the link I have saved it.

Wish there was something like that where I live. The only other dogs Lyra gets 2 meet atm are her sister and my brothers GSD who's 6 months and about 5 times her size lol both are too hyper for her, since she just wants them 2 curl up and sleep with her lol

I just decided to start one up myself after talking to a few owners near me that had people avoiding them because of the dog they had Sad It's not fair. Honey loves playing with any breed doesn't matter to her. I have one close friend with a chihuahua and they were fine together. Tho I met another friends choc lab and I wasnt impressed with my friend for the introduction. It wasn't how I wanted it. She was praising her dog for being nasty whew! most of the dogs honey meets are on our walks together every day

Oooh that's not on! I wouldn't have been happy either. Lyra is a strange one meeting other dogs, she's ok with dogs her size, she's submissive with bigger dogs (except my bros GSD she does like to try and pick on him lol and he just stands on her Wink ) and any dogs she doesn't know she belly drops to the floor till the walk past her. Oh and smaller dogs get jumped on lol she met a chihuahua today for the first time, tried to jump on him, I told her off and she lay on the floor looking up at me as if to say "but mum he's smaller than me I'm not scared of him" lol

i hope you get some response and it may be worth joining other organized walks and see if you can then organize through that.

just be aware of your own safety and make sure you meet up in a group and not with a total stranger part from that good luck!!!

Otissmummy it's why I thought of the idea along with a couple of other people I had met along the seafront. I wanted honey to be socialised properly. I was going to try puppy classes but I have had lots of help and advice from my sister and a very close friends who owns a staffie too

Dee my honey when she meets most dogs will either sit or lay down, takes me ages at times to go for walks bless her. Once they have been nose to nose she will stand up and just let them get on with the rest of the smelling lol she isn't worried about the size and there are times when I watch her she knows she has met the dog before bless her. There's a place along our seafront that she has met a big dog and he is usually one side of a fence and she is the other. Every time I walk passed there with her she expects him to come and greet her. Pity he hasn't been there for awhile.
My friend had her dog off the lead and she came charging round and got really nasty with honey, then she thought she knew best and kept treating her dog like a baby saying its ok don't worry ggggggrrrrrr honey was on my lap as she was only little but I didn't mother her bless her I didn't want her to be frightened. Honey was fine didn't cause any problems. But I can see why my friend has trouble with her lab. She told me recently she wished that her lab was like honey lol

Ahh I know I feel like I spend half of my school run saying "Lyra come on its ok, we are gona be late you know?!" And I wonder why people look at me strangely lol. Funny enough we had a run in with a lab not so long ag on one of her first walks out, came bounding up the street at us owner a good 70ft away barking at Lyra so my first instinct was 2 scoop her up while shouting down the street at the woman to pust her ***** dog on its lead! Her response was "but he's friendly" yh ok he might of been but my tiny pup doesn't know that, and as we were walking away she made no attempt to put it on its lead and it followed us around the corner jumping up at me trying to get at Lyra! That one really boiled me I tell ya. Ahhh noooo you don't baby a dog when its done wrong *doh* that's just asking for trouble lol

Hope you get a decent response Smile my vets organised a dog walking group and set up a Facebook page, I've only been to one so far but it was brilliant, lots of different breeds, different personalities, etc. I'd suggest setting up a Facebook group, inviting dog owners you know, asking them to share the page to other dog owners, maybe share it on your vet's Facebook (if they have one), etc. Take advantage of social networking Big Grin
