Afternoon all. I know a bloke who has a dog groomers and he gets his own range of food made. Could you have a look at the nutritional values etc of the puppy food in this link and let me know what you think. Cheers.

Had a look, it looks ok, I'm wandering what percentage of meat is in comparison to grains?

Logan has been on a different diet lately to cut down the amounts of grains in his diet.

Hypallergenic is always good, and the price is attractive.

It looks ok but seen better, second third and forth ingredient is:

Rice, Maize, Oats

Ideally top 2 or 3 ingredients should really be protein source.

Also the main ingredient is Poultry Meal which although nothing wrong with that, its not the best for the main ingredient really.

A couple of dodgy ingredients there for me:

Fructooligosaccharides - used as an alternative sweetener

Sugar Beet Pulp - again used as a sweetener

Apart from that I have seen worse foods around

It's not bad, but not the best.

I'd be interested to see that as well. If the meat content is less than 25% I wouldn't bother with it.

I have mis-understood the pricing then lol! That is quite expensive imo. Albeit, I understand that profit margins are harder to find for smaller businesses.

I feed James Wellbeloved and it is £13 for 2 2kg bags. So much the same price. I find that the JWB is one of the better foods I've ever used though.

Quite a while if I'm honest Rebecca. 5 or 6 weeks, maybe more...

I always have a lot of fresh veg from work which Logan loves, I add potatoes/broccoli to every meal as it fills him up with very few calories. I also have small bags of mince in my freezer and I make him 2/3 meats balls with it. He gets basically a handful and a half of JWB dry food. Two meatballs from the mince, & two tablespoons of mashed broccoli which is cooked in the meat stock. I then mix it up with some of the water I boiled the meat in and he laps it up!

A lot of our members feed raw, but because it isn't a good idea to mix raw and dry food because of the different digestion rates, I boil mine.

I roll them into meatballs because it's easier to gather them up after they cook just lol, just slightely smaller than a golfball. I put them into piping hot water for probably 4-5 minutes, maybe slightely less. Then I take them out and spilt them in half on a bit of tin foil and let them cool for a few minutes. I find that the tin foil is full of grease after but the meat it self is just right.
