Bed wetting Empty Bed wetting

Post by philip gill Thu Jan 17 2013, 21:12

Hi all I have a female staffie its a rescue dog but Ive had her 4 years now. We recently moved her bed into the kitchen so she sleeps there at night we used to let her sleep in living room she would always sneak on to the sofa at night but we recently bought a new sofa (2 months ago) so now keep her in kitchen. There is no pattern to her behaviour but some nights she urinates in her bed then she will go a week without doing it and we think the problem has gone then it comes back and she urinates her bed again she's done it for the last 4 nights in a row. I get the feeling she is protest peeing as we take her out for a toilet before bed and she will still do it. But during the day when she's alone up to 8 hours nothing bone dry she gets plenty of exercise as I'm a pro boxer and she comes running 6 miles a day with me and even take her to my local running track and she does sprints with me. She even lets me know when she needs the loo as she gets under my legs and nudges them until i get up and take her out. She is house trained and is healthy and no bowl problems If this was a regular thing or every night for more than a week Id take her to the vets But like I say it comes and goes and its only started since I moved the bed.??? any help ideas???

Hi & welcome.

It'd be great if you's post an intro here.... Big Grin

I think you've probably answered your own question. The change has upset her - both her routine, and her preferred sleeping place!

Any chance you could compromise & buy a large throw to put on the sofa at night in case she goes on there?

I would but her hair gets everywhere and as she's white its a sofa bed so don't want all the hair getting into the bed part. (Was a 3 grand sofa) I really thought it was a protest thing but its been over 2 months now and still does it surely she be settled in the new place now??

What shall I post in the intro section?

Thanks for your time and help.

I no it doesn't happen all the time but my first point of call would be the vets to rule out anything health wise uti so on Xx
