Post by Steve.Sanders Wed Dec 05 2012, 21:51

Hi guys.. bit worried.. pulled 2 UK shop bought salmon pieces out of freezer to have for tea tonight.. took em out of fridge to cook tonight n dropped them... my shadow (Koda) was there grabbed them and run with them and ate them before i could get to her.. googled to see if it was ok for her to eat and read about salmon poisoning or rather the parasite etc... some threads said its not wild salmon and its been frozen but im panicing now.... should i take her to vets asap as it can take weeks to get symptoms or IS it safe as its farmed salmon

As far as I know it's perfectly safe if it's a farmed salmon. It's only salmon caught in certain places that may have the parasite that causes the poisoning...

I think the chances of her being harmed are extremely rare. Never search the internet to find out if something is harmfull, it is the worst thing you can possibly do.

Yeah, we have to be careful as most salmon we have here is Pacific Northwest and that is where most of the problem fish have originated.
