Hello from Tinker Th__MG_6153

This is Tinker who we rescued a couple of weeks ago from our local rescue centre. She has settled in really well and her ears are a lot perkier now!

Her coat has come in a lot thicker although it is still quite sparse on her belly. She is quite itchy at times and has a few sores where she has nibbled at herself especially her tail which she chewed when she was in the kennels.

We had a few accidents the first week but she is very good now. She has put on some weight which is good because you could see her ribs and the bottom of her spine was quite prominent when we first got her. She is eating fish for dogs and a bit of Wainwrights as she has sensitive skin.

She is quite snuffly (is this a breed thing) and sounds like a horse whinneying. She is often a little bit sick especially after a long walk. I wonder if this is her age as she is ten years old. Anyway we are off to the vets for her first check up this evening so will ask them. She didn't bark for the first week but she has certainly found her voice now! She sleeps with my son and usually takes up most of the room lol!

She is quite windy! but we won't hold that against her. She doesn't like other dogs and I am wondering whether to take her to some training to try and socialise her a little better. Don't know what she is like with children yet but will approach with caution.

Anyway we are totally new to the breed and any hints and tips would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for looking.

well done you for choosing a rescue dog. The snuffling is not in the breed i think and long walks maybe too much ather age. Going to see the vet is a good move they will advise on excersise and so on. She is gorgeous and im sure she will settle ok. Our dog is from a rescue centre and it does take time. The wind is usual in staffys advice on diet may be a good thing too

Well done for rescuing Tinker, great name. Our dog is also from a rescue centre, it does take a while for any dog to settle into their new surroundings and I'm sure she will be fine.
