Bragging about Charlie again! Empty Bragging about Charlie again!

Post by Guest Mon Jan 24 2011, 12:44

Well Charlie impressed me again today! I dropped the twins off to nursery and decided to push my luck and leave Charlie's crate door open to see how he'd get on having the run of the living room and dining room. I was gone for about 45 mins and came back to find him laid out on the sofa. None of the kids toys had been touched and he hadnt torn anything or done a wee or poo which I was half expecting. I'm gonna leave him out now if I'm only gonna be gone for a short while. I'm soooo proud of him and so shocked at how well trained and well behaved he is for his age. I wonder what he'll surprise me with tomorrow?! Smile

Well done charlie! All i would say though is still be on your guard when leaving him alone, obviously he's doing great atm but dont trust him to much lol. I used to leave Ty the run of down stairs when i went out, i did the same as u slowly built up the period of time i used to leave him for and he was perfect. Then one day i literally popped to the shop for some fags gone about 15 mins and i came back to utter destuction, bin ripped apart, doorframes chewed, sofa destroyed.......i think something must of spooked him or whatever but since then he has to be contained with all doors shut in the hallway and kaos goes in there with him but in his crate. Im sure u wont have that same problem but i thought id share it with u anyway lol x

Lol, naughty Ty. I'm only going to leave him for short periods at the mo and extend it as I feel I can trust him more. Trust me, I've seen the effect a dog can have in your house, not funny at all! Smile

When I go out Dempsey's crate door is firmly shut!

At night, though, I leave the door open. I sometimes hear him trot up the passage & yawn loudly, but then he goes back to bed!

Well done! Isn't it nice when they start to conform? Buster used to be such a bugger for destroying things when he was young. You don't think you'll ever get to the stage when they don't do it but they do get there! I can now leave Buster alone and in charge of anything. Except food. I cannot leave him alone with food Big Grin

Little tip, if you do leave them alone make sure that there favourite toy hasn't managed to get pushed under the sofa, just out of reach, because they claw it! I know from getting home after work!!

I can't complain when Charlie does something a little naughty cos he's so good the rest of the time. I've just been out to buy a whistle cos when we were walking yesterday, Charlie ran up to a lad in a blue and white tracksuit, I called him back but he just went and jumped all over the lad! Luckily he was good about it and fussed Charlie a bit and walked on but I felt awful cos Charlie got his trackie really muddy! I've read that using a whistle is a good way to reinforce recall so I'm going to use that.
