Update, first weekend is over and we have a date for full adoption!

Hi all on this wet and yucky day!

Just an update on how things are going since Dexter, previously Denzil joined us on Friday eve.

We have discovered a few of the things he already knows: Sit, stay, wait, walk and where's your bone? (he runs off to fetch it and comes back looking so pleased with himself). He has also enjoyed frightening the postman with enthusiastic woofing through the door, although the main risk would have to be death by licking I think!

He has become a little shadow, happily following us around the house and getting as close as possible on the bed or sofa! The kids adore him (we have 3, aged 12, 7 and 4) we were out on a walk on saturday and our 4 year old had a lil tumble at the park and Dexter was straight by him looking concerned. Adorable!

Our contact at the rescue telephoned to see how we were getting on during the trial, and I happily told her we will without a doubt be adopting him - they are coming round Thu for us to fill in the papers etc. They are happy, we are ecstatic and by the looks of him Dexter is pretty darn happy with the situation too. Roll on Thursday!!!

The lady on the phone made me cry, she said he's had a second chance thanks to you and I just welled up. Doesn't take much with me anyway but to be honest I hadn't thought of it like that, I was too busy being bowled over by the amount of love he has and the trust he shows when he hasn't known us long. It's too hard to put into words, but I know you lot get it!

Looks like you have your forever home and 3 children to play with. Well done

And well done you for giving another rescue a home, so many of these dogs just need a second chance to show what they can give.

Not surprised at all Could tell from your posts you intended to put heart and soul into this . Chuffed to bits you're adopting him . And just remember, once you come here it is forbidden to leave or bad things will happen.
