Blue staffy got ginger patches!

Hello im new to this but hoped someone might help me. Yesterday i bathed my pure blue staffy in medicated dog shampoo and he went outside with us after to enjoy the sun. Today when i got up my dog has slight ginger patches??

Im wondering if it was the shampoo? Should i get a different one? If so which one please?

Its not the shampoo, some blues (I haven't a clue about the breeding and so on) will be blue/brindle, its just his colour coming through in the sun, well thats my guess anyway Xx

I agree and doubt the shampoo did it to the coat. Can you post some pics? Maybe if there is something obvious we could help you out.

Hi thanks for your replys. Im not sure how to post pics but will have a go. He is nearly 2 would he not of already had patches coming through? Not over night which is what has happened

I think thats right although he's a grey colour and my partner thinks hes purple. On pics hes either very dark blue or looks black.

Hmm. Still hard for me to say, but if it goes back to normal in a few weeks, I'd be inclined to say the shampoo did it. Not really sure otherwise. I don't have a blue so not sure. Perhaps one of the other blue owners here might know of something. Beautiful dog though. Just too hard to tell from these pics.

Hi there I have done a lot of research on blue staffys. All dogs have brindle even if its only one hair. As Blue is a dilution of black the brindle is also diluted so comes out more orange/fawn. Think of it like a mahogany brindle thats been through the wash a couple times. Milo was all blue when i got him and the orange/brindle patches have started coming through. The sun always makes it show up more. Washing his coat has made it come up more as his coat would have been oily and dirty (no offence but its true.) If you want to get technical there is actually no such thing as a completely blue staff. I actually prefer it as it gives the coatgives a nice golden sheen.

Btw he's a lovely deep shade of blue you should be very proud, he's a handsome dog

Yes, it looks like the brindle is showing through. I doubt that it was the shampoo.

Both mine have brindle in them in some light buster more than Skye and she's a darker Grey than buster
He's a good looking dog

Well he's only just turned 5 months and it started showing properly about two months ago. Milo's mums a really golden blue tho (pic in the gallery) so it also depends on parents colour, whats topaz' mum and dad?

He's only just 18 months and today i woke up he was like it.

Not really every couple of months but hes had about 3 bath's this month as hes been jumping in the pond so stinks. The last 3 washes have been with this cheaper medicated dog shampoo?

I got Buster at almost 6 months. He was blue and white. Now at 8 months he has had alot of brindle come out. His coat now is alot healthier than when I first got him - he is finally getting a nice shine to it - and he gets washed about once a month. I'm not sure but I did read somewhere once not to wash with shampoo more than once a month? (Maybe someone on here could let me know if it is ok or not as I would love to wash Buster more often if it was ok too because he gets very dirty at work with OH?!) But I doubt very much that it was the shampoo. I think the sun does bring out the brindle more, a bit like our hair getting lighter in the sun.

I cant see it being the shampoo. last sumer I noticed Ty was lookin ginger in the sun. Hes black and white and now has a few brindle stripes in random places and everytime we go in the sun more seems to appear. My partners dog storm went from vertually all black to over night turning brindle he thought someone had swopped his dog the change was that quick and dramatic. Hi! I bathed mine in medicated shampoo and got an instant ginger patch too!! Not from age but instant!!
