How often does a girlie wee ......

I never seem to away from this foum now - I'm always angsting over something or other. I know this must seem like a daft question but I have only ever owned dogs who will happily pee from here to eternity marking their terriorty. I could open the back door and let them out but there was never any doubt that they had done something. Hubby took Lily for a walk last night at midnight and after half hour came back and said that she hadn't done anything. I ended up in the garden with her in the wind and rain and I wouldn't come in until she had done one. The last tme she had gone was 8.00. She is very clean overnight and I let her out as soon as I get up and think she must be bursting - I know I am But more often or not she just walks round the garden and comes back in - as she has just done and is now happily asleep on her chair. I always praise her when she does a wee (or anything else) and have given it a word which she seems to associate with the other type of waste but I can't keep wandering round all night waiting for Lily to wee. Am I over reacting or is this just the nature of girlies.

Does she have water available through the night ?? Simple science , but no water = no full bladder

Oh gosh yes, she always has access to fresh water.

They def don't wee as much as boy dogs, unless they're in season.

I think my girl prob does about 5 / 6 a day, my in laws French bulldog, also a girl, would go 2 / 3 times just because it is one lazy dog!!

As long as she gets opportunities to go I wouldn't worry, she'll go if she needs to!!

Sorry I hope you don't think I was accusing you of neglect Tilly has water in all rooms she can access but she's mostly too lazy to get off our bed and drink it
If Tilly goes for a walk she will wee for England at any opportunity , like she's never been out for a week. But when at home she normally goes through from 10/11 until morning without probs and then into the garden and I would say that she is generally ready for one then. On average she probably goes out in the garden 4 or 5 times a day plus a couple of min 1 hr walks
If she is ok in herself and you don't have any problems then I wouldn't be too concerned and just ask the vet next time you have her there for his opinion

That's OK Dave - I suppose it was an obvious question to ask a newbie. She seems to be OK herself so its probably just a question of me getting to know my dog and what is normal for her. Always nice to get the views of others.

I know he's not a girl, but Buster doesnt seem to wee much either. He went last night before bed at about 11 and he hasn't been out yet (OH has tried to get him to go out, but because I am having a lie in he won't go down) Also when we're out on walks he wont wee much. When we first got him he wouldn't go anywhere except one patch in our garden. We used to go for a walk and then he would come back and go outside for a wee so in the mornings I would take him straight for a walk so he had to wee and then gave him loads of praise and a treat so he is a bit better with that now. LuLu goes every two seconds when we go for a walk! I think every dog is different, and as long as she seems ok I wouldn't worry, but speak to your vet if you are still concerned

When Rocky goes for a walk he does about 2 proper wees then does about 8 others where he will just do a drop.

When we got in the woods he seems to wee up against anything that is green.

I've never really counted but I'd guess 4 or so times a day unless out on a walk

my boy if at home will only go if i really make him go out for one but if on a walk he will go on anything and everything but my girl is so different she will go about 2-3 times a day and only do one on a walk even if its a 3-4 hour walk she only dose a number two twice a day aswell all dogs are so different

Thanks for sharing - so many differences but all reassure me that Lily is just fine, I certainly won't be worrying as much

Moo won't wee in the rain! She could go hours without going, stubborn mare especially when I'm in a rush for work!!!

Cairo doesnt really go much either.She goes out every 5-6 hours to be honest.Its practically 6am-12pm-6pm-12am.Sometimes she goes inbetween those times and if she goes on a walk she will go then as well.
