Saxon's Weight Pull Class! Video Added!

For my birthday my mom got me a weight pull class at a local training center! So today was Saxon's first day of weight pull class! Yay! It was so exciting! I didn't get any pictures of Saxon actually pulling because it was only he and I tonight. OH will be coming next week, though, so one of us can take pictures while the other cheers Saxon on!

All we did today was walk around in his harness for a while and then walk down the track dragging two different weights of chains. Saxon had a great time, though, and I'm really excited for next week!! Here are the few photos I did take! Enjoy!

At one point he got a little bit too excited and bit my finger instead of his cookie! Luckily it didn't break the skin, but it did hurt like crazy!

I'd love to do weight pulling with Troy, but I'm sure people would just think I was training for fighting and can't be bothered with the hassle or risk being reported.

Thanks all! We had a blast, it's definitely one of the best birthday presents I've ever gotten. I can't wait for next week when I can get some good pictures! Saxon really seems to enjoy it, he got used to the harness immediately!

My finger is pretty bruised, painful and swollen today, so I'm nine finger typing. Never realized how often I use my right index/pointer finger in every day life! I think I'm going to invest in one of those finger splints.

I know when that ruddy bee stung my finger when we went away, how bad that was..and you could guarantee if I was going to bang or hit any finger.. it would be the one that was stung and was already throbbing!

Max absolutely love's his drag pulling, and I must say, it's the only thing that completely knocks him out , they do tend to put all they have into it, so he is spark out when he finally rest's

Are there plenty of people there that know their stuff with regard to pulling ?

yes I would like to know more too..Winston is as strong as an ox but I have never heard of it..till now !

Gorgeous pics. It looks like it was fun. Where would be the best place to find out about it in England, does anyone know? Something that tires out a staffy can only be a good thing!

Today was Saxon's second weight pull class! He did so well! On his first run he pulled the (approximately) 200 lb (14 stone) cart by itself and he didn't even seem to notice it was behind him. On his second and third run he had 1 38 lb (2.5 stone) cinderblock on the cart and on his fourth and final run he pulled two cinderblocks. He did so well and I am so proud of him! OH was there to take pictures and he got a couple of good ones! Enjoy!

That looks like fantastic fun for Staffies. Saxon seems to have really enjoyed it.

Saxon did awesome this week!! He worked his way up to 5 cinderblocks! That's 109 lbs on top of the approximately 200lb cart. I was so surprised that he was able to pull 5 cinderblocks, as last week he struggled with 3. He is definitely gaining skill! He was so excited when I cheered for him after pulling 5. He was smiling and his butt was wiggling. For his last pull he did an easy one with just two blocks in order to wind down. I am so proud of him and his skills.

He's really enjoying himself and he's definitely getting stronger each time! Once I invest in a harness for Saxon, I'll start to practice with him at home, as well!

In other news, my finger (which Saxon accidentally bit on the first day of class) isn't doing so well:

It doesn't hurt so bad anymore, but I may lose the nail, it's a bit "loose."
