You both might be interested in reading Polly by Brian Plummer about his white german shepard dog. He died recently but was instrumental in creating the plummer terrier and started to recreate the alaunt.
Moobli by Mike Tomkies is a beautiful account of Mikes adventures in the completely wild scottish highlands with his german shepard Moobli. (Although its not white)
I'd love a GSD but only if it was black or very dark b&t and only if it didn't have those awful bent legs the KC seem hell bent on multilating every dog with. Romeo used to play with a stunning one called Nelson.
