another dog for the snip (morning update)

lemmy goes for his plums off tomorrow. have to be there at 9. he will given a check up then a premed before leaving him. can pick him up about 4.

i knew there was another dog going this week. tomorrow for monty isnt it

well thats him in. we took a nice walk up to make sure he was all empty. we got there at 10 to and he had his check up. he weighs a lovely 16kg for his slender 15 inches tall. had a check up and all fine then the pain kiler and premed. she said it would take up to 30 minutes to take effect. by the time she had finished telling me about it and i signed everything lemmy was laid on the floor looking a bit spaced out so he went in no problem. they will ring about 2:30 for me to go get him if he seems ok if not it will be closer to tea time to give him a bit of extra time to come round

I hope all goes well I am sure it will be fine! How old is Lemmy? Vlad is at the "right age" but we still think he is a bit young and still not big enough. Does it "settle them down"?

lemmy just turned 1 on december 16th we did want to wait till he was a bit older but we are hoping this will settle him down at the moment he has the biggest head on the planet. he plays nice with all dogs usualy but when he does decide to be a pain there is no reasoning with him he just goes off on one. there is no guarentee with any dog that it will calm them down it is just a chance we take. the health benefits we all know are worth it any way

Thank you We are planning on getting it done anyway and he is very big for his boots! And, he's never going to be a show dog and we're not going to continue the bloodline (poor buggers - wouldn't know what they would be letting themselves in for if they all turned out to be Vlad Jrs LOL) so we think the snip is the right for everyone but mostly for Vlad. I think we will wait until he's at least a year too! Thanks!!!!

It might, it might not. It really depends on the individual dog. And don't forget, of course, that mature dogs tend to be far more relaxed & self confident, which is why I would always advise people to wait until the dog is mature. Dempsey, for example, was a right royal pain in the a*se as a pup & 'teenager', but now he's 2 & a half years old he's calmed down tremendously. He still doesn't like some dogs, but he's content to leave them alone as long as they don't come too close. He's a lot more 'biddable' too.

Monte is next. Hopeing it calms the marking urge and helps reduce the risk of a flare up between the two boys. So far they love eachother dearly but we want it to stay that way.

Hope Monte's op goes ok too, and better than Frosty's bless him!
