Excitement Empty Excitement

Post by Guest Tue Dec 27 2011, 20:19

Does anybody have any tips on how i can nip skyes excitement in the bud?? .. Basically she jumps up and she will push vinnie out the way and even chase him off so she gets all the fuss
Ive so far been trying these:
Turn around untill shes stopped and then ignore her n fuss her when I say so
Gets told NO firmly if she dont listen she goes in her crate to chill out

Anybody have any other tips? I want this nipped in the bud because vinnie is an angel compared too skye since her season shes over excitable i know i will have to go back to basics! And now i can walk on my ankle again she will be going out every day for walks for long walks!! Im thinking that becaise i have only been able to short walk em as i did my ankle in that the bordem has bottled up and she just gets ott excited

I think just more of what you're already doing! Her season has got her hormones all over the place & she just needs the bounderies re-setting.

I think you are on the right track and that's exactly what I would do as well. She should settle down a bit once she starts getting the longer walks. If you can let her off leash somewhere where she can run around that should also help.

They can be a bit stubborn and frustrating. You are on the right track and patience and consistency will pay off. If we don't exercise Suki for 2-3 hours a day she is very hard to deal with. If she is exercised she is a sweetie. They just have lots of energy that has to get released in a positive way.

Having raised my boys and survived their teenage years I can honestly say that Staffies are perhaps more trying but well worth it Big Grin

I agree with both Caryll and jstaff.

Fingers crossed that now you are on the mend and can walk them again she will calm down. Just keep doing what your doing, surely it will pay off sooner or later! Hopefully it will be sooner!
