Is it too hot to excercise?

It is as hot as hell here today (34C at 1800m above sea level). Ty seems to be struggling on the walks although we go early morning and late afternoon. We walked a little late this am and he was exhauseted when we came home although the walk was shorter.

He has been passed out on the couch for most of the afternoon so I am wondering if we should skip this evening?

yea i would skip it till it cools down

I'm hearing you Ty...........We get warm temps like that too here in Aus, and I won't walk RoXy in the heat of day....... I always wait for it to cool. They can overheat very quickly.

Yes take the afternoon off Ty good idea, have a cool down in the paddling pool instead.

Can you go at night in your area Ty?

I could not stand to walk in the heat never mind the boy. Trouble is by the time it is cool enough in the pm it is too dark (8pm) You just dont walk alone at night in Johannesburg!

can go one better than kids out in the garden playing i got a 23 and 21 year old so my garden is safe its the surrounding woodland that is being churned up a bit by mad dogs charging round while i stay in the nice warm house chatting on here

We are decided. Not going out as it it only fit for mad dogs and English men out there. He just moved to the corner ottoman as he gets a cross breeze there.

I would try to go for a long walk in early in the morning if you can. You can still walk in the afternoon if he needs it but just not very far. We also have a collar for Suki that we can place ice bags in so she will stay cooler. You could also bring a spray bottle along to keep his body wet. That will keep his body temperature lower and still let him get some exercise

What's the temperature there at the moment?

Where i live I am lucky enough to have a brook / creek running near the edge of the path so RoXy always gets to cool off in the water while we are out, although it won't be long until it has dried out and there is no water left again until the coller wetter months.
In the summer ( yep, it's summer here now but we have had some recent rain ) I try to take her to the beach for a good run and she can cool off in the shallow.
Is there anywhere close by to you that could offer somewhere to cool off.
