yuuuuuuck, never smelt the fox poo here but my dogs have had fun with lots of different dead thing including fish that people have left on the dam bank and dead kangaroos on the side of the road... it's just lovely when they find those things...

Sophie hasn't done anything like that yet but when we take her for a walk at a nearby country park she makes straight for the rabbit droppings and eats them.

Re: why do they do this to us
I have a little book called "What is my dog thinking". It says that "in order to hunt successfully, it is better if your prey cannot detect your presence until the last moment. For a smelly animal like a wolff or dog, this can be difficult. For this reason, it is sensible to cover yourself in any strong-smelling substance that is in the environment"
Fox dropping are certainly strong smelling! If ever our dogs had rolled in it my husband used to say that they were wearing Foxy No5 perfume.

This is always what I have believed as well. They do it to mask their scent for prey. It is quite nasty though

Re: why do they do this to us
Dear lord i walked a dog at the kennels i worked at once and it was good enough to let off the leash (in an enclosed field) and it made a beeline for something and started rolling and i was nearly crying from the smell. It was badger poop. I had to wash the blooming thing about 20times before it's owners came for it and washing a hyperactive 1yo is NOT easy lol
