Got a dog show on saturday, but don't know if I'll bother. It's a long way to go, for a non-bull terrier judge in a 'not seperately classified' class.
Sigh, I'll decide tomorrow morning.

I haven't been to McDonald's for YEARS!
We went veggie about 15 years ago & the veggie burgers are horrific!

Re: it near the weekend
We do eat a little fish, but the fish filets at mcdonald's are equally ugh!
We went veggie for 2 reasons.
1. we didn't want an animal killed just so we could eat, when we don't actually need meat to survive and
2. When we lived in Wales we had a field at the back of us that used to be used by the farmer to fatten beef calves. We used to get to know those poor things & a lot of them we named. We used to feed them apples & hay and they knew us & would come to see us. After a while I couldn't face eating beef. Then we heard about all the drugs that are pumped into lamb & pork so stopped eating those. And chicken got so boring & they get loads of things pumped into them as well, plus they're kept in dreadful conditions so we went veggie!

Re: it near the weekend
yea i can understand, i was watching a tv program about it on channel 4.. life of animals we eat i was pretty shock.
Re: it near the weekend
I'm a softy when it comes to animals, although I'm not a sentimentalist. I don't kill my dogs with over pampering for example.
I never really thought about meat until we saw those cattle in the field - different ones every year. It got to a head when one we'd named Dennis, and got rather too fond of, disappeared and we knew that within a couple of days he'd be someone's roast dinner.

i love animal too if i had to see it day in and day out i dont think i could eat them, i dont know how these farmer do it even with chicken, you see it born, help to grow there no chance of eating it these farmer are evil i will tell you.....
Re: it near the weekend
Not all of them but a lot of them are.
There are some who really care about their animals & I applaud them, but there are many others who will do anything for an extra few quid.
I've nothing at all aginst anyone who eats meat - that's an individual decision - and I'd never try & convert anyone, I just wish more people would change to organic/free range.

Re: it near the weekend
when we eat chicken & eggs we have organic/free range, atleast they had some type of life...
Re: it near the weekend
Be careful with free range chickens. There have been reports recently that free range chickens are kept in abysmal conditions for 75% of the time but allowed a certain amount of freedom for a couple of hours a day, and also get fed drugs for producing extra eggs etc.
If you can afford it, go for organic free range. For some reason they get more freedom & don't get drugs pumped into them.

grrrrrrr that really does my head and that why i would love to grow my own food, you just dont know what you eating anymore, but someone else would have to look after the chicken for sunday dinner.... lol
Re: it near the weekend
You can grow certain thing really easily, even if you don't have a lot of space. Potatoes can be grown in large pots (they actually have quite nice flowers!) & so can French Beans. Onions can be planted behind flowers in the flower beds. You can also grow 'cut & come again' lettuce - as it grows you pull what you need & it keeps growing.
