an update on Frankie
Well hes been with us for almost a month! and what a month its been!
he is almost completely toilet trainned he will use his mats over night and cry at the stairs during the day so we nip him out
As i come from a massive family and we like to spend time together he has been around a few dogs, Ty and Woody his staffy cousin, but there is also Gizzy, a little terrier, Kita, a puppy lab, and Midnight a Lab x husky, and he gets on brilliantly with all of them, he gets more excited to see Gizzy than any of his friends as Gizzy is just little too!!
Frank has learnt some commands, he knows Sit, Paw and Leave! He has also nearly master jmping on to the couch/my bed.
Ive learnt that at night he doesnt sleep well, maybe for a few hours then he is up playing, i didnt really want him in my bed so he had a big bed bought and filled with blankets on the floor, however the other half is just home from afghan, and didnt know this while i was out the other night and lifted him in to bed, and he slept all night until i woke him at half past 9!!! hes been in my bed every night since and sleeps brilliant!!
My only real worry with Frank is his biting! He is really bad for it with adults, when i get dressed he is biting my trousers (normally leggins) and he always bites my hands. I tell him off and give him one of his toys, im hoping this will work!
oh and i got him a Kong Toy and the Penut Butter Paste which he also LOVES!!!!
All in all im loving him being here and i think he has come on in leaps and bounds, he even wags that tail of his when we get home now

Re: an update on Frankie
Good to hear things are going well. If he nips turn around and ignore him. He just wants attention and bitting is the way to get it. If you ignore him he should stop after awhile. If not try a can with rocks or metal inside and shake it when he starts to nip.

Re: an update on Frankie
I might try getting one of thoose clickers for when he is biting! I have noticed if he is doing something he shouldnt be and I clap he stopped straight away!
I find it really hard to turn my back on him, as the one thing he has mastered is crying and he will cry for up to an hour until some one speaks to him! however if he gets to much he is sometimes put in the kitchen to calm down! But again I dont want him to think of the kitchen as punishment as we sit in there alot when family are over.
Yea im really glad he is home again, that was his 2nd tour of Afghan aswell but he has also done Iraq However my boy will be home for Christmas this year Im worried hes gonna get put to Libya next but at least i have until christmas!!! Hes my super man anyway
xx

Re: an update on Frankie
Lol sometimes its hard to not think about it.
My pals were all shocked when i was telling them i was out the other night and Sean had Frank ... "cant believe u went out without him" meaning Sean, as much as i would love to be im not the only woman in his life, his dear mother needs to see him lol !!
ahh it was lovely, they all lied to me, Seans mum planned a little welcome home party no one told me, and Sean said he was due home end of September. walked in to the hall with his mum (THINKING WE WERE HAVING A SOCIAL DRINK) and he was standing there with his mates .... so i dont mind sharing him with his mum lol
Hes home until next year, but he is based in Inverness, about an hours drive away so here goes to the mileage on the car again lol >
Glad Frank likes the car or the journey would be horrible, altho i only take him maybe once a week lol
I dont think the "danger rush" will ever go in our boys!!! Sean loves anything that will give him a rush, im the total oppisite, i dont even like going down chutes anymore!! lol
Nice way to end his journey in the forces tho!! White SHARKES!!! i would LOVE to do that!!!

Telling Mouse "No" and giving her other things to chew/hold in her mouth everytime she tried to bite/nip/nom whatever you want to call it. That worked for us.
having a dog from a puppy and seeing how they improve and grow up makes you so proud. You'll have many more moments like this.
