Our next door neighbours wife has isssues with parking, so has never ever spoken to me in the 8 months I have been here. We live in a house with communal steps leading up to it. These steps serve for 5 or 6 houses, but we are the second house at the top of the steps. Our next door neighbour thinks that because her house is first when you get up the steps her parking space is right in front of the entrance to the steps. Her husband told Ian this when we moved in and explained it was because she had children....a 2 year old and 8 year old, whereas we have a 2 year old and 4 year old.

Ian has a bouncy castle business and so parks the van outside our living room window and the car wherever there is a space. But if anyone is parked in "her space", bearing in mind all the cars here are taxed, mot's and isnured so all have a right to park where they want, she blames it on Ian. She gets in a right huff, makes nasty comments about him and slams the front door when our kids are in bed asleep!

Anyway not really relevant but just wanted to give you a background on how nice our neighbours are. The woman drives a jeep and the man works for Iceland so has a work van on the street some days, as he shares the van with someone else. She works in a nursery and used to take the kids to work with her and I assume then leave work to take the oldest to school/pick him up. But anyway they used to go with her at 8am in the morning and come home anytime between 6 and 8pm. The nursery she works at has been taken over by a new manager and since this she hasn't been taking the kids with her. Think possibly she has been told not to bring them to work unless they have a nursery place.

She won't walk to work as it is the grand total of 10 mins walk away. So she takes the jeep and leaves the kids at home with her husband. Wednesday morning she left at half 7 and he left in his work van with the two children at half 8. Now he isn't supposed to carry unauthorised personnel in the van, but he also had both children in the van with no seat belts. The little one was next to him with an adult belt on around his waist and the strap that should go across the shoulder was behind him. Personally I think this is quite dangerous especially as the oldest goes to school half hour away, so it wasn't just a 5min trip.

Anyway I have seen him carrying the oldest in the van before but turned a blind eye, but because this was so dangerous and such a small child was involved I have complained to Iceland about it. Only now I am feeling a tad guilty because he came home that day without the van and hasn't been to work since! Really hoping he hasn't lost his job over it, he is a decent bloke and always talks to me when I see him. It is just his wife that is funny, but I couldn't turn a blind eye when the safety of a small child was at jeapordy. Thing is, that as she no longer takes the children with her, it would no doubt have continued to happen which is why I felt the need to report it.

No point to this really, just feeling a tad guilty so thought I would share it. Obviously my partner knows I have reported it but can't tell anyone else as I don't want them knowing where the complaint came from, even though I think she has her suspicions!

To be honest I think you've done the right thing for the children. He can get another job, but if the children were hurt in an accident, he can't get another child. Sad

That's my thinking! I have a boy the same age and both me and Ian won't let him go anywhere without a car seat even just 5 mins in the car! It is just too dangerous.

But she won't allow him to use the jeep unless she is home and it is nipping to the shop. She won't walk anywhere, so I think that is a bit selfish leaving him with the kids when they know full well they aren't allowed in the van. Even if she left a car seat for him, then maybe although it is wrong, I would have turned a blind eye.

She did leave this morning making a huge fuss in the street carrying her handbag and a carrier bag, and she walked to work! So he has the car all day to take the kids!
