Newbie here from westyorkshire
Hi All,
I have a 4 1/2 month old staffie bitch called Tia, never had a dog before so any help and advice on training, eating would be great.
We have taught her to sit and take treats nicely from your hand, the problem we seem to have is you put her food down on a morning and within a second the whole lot has gone, then she will go to her bowl every 5mins to see if you have put anymore in, we feed her twice a day 1/2 tin Pedigree puppy with dried iams puppy biscuits.
We walk her throughout the day for about 10mins at a time, then at tea time she has a hour walk but all the time were out she pulls like mad and will try to eat anything off the floor she can find.
She is very very fussy and jumps up and scratches your legs to death.
Am i doing something wrong???
Joe xx

Re: Newbie here from westyorkshire
I would recommend taking her to training classes its good for dog and handler you'll so much, don't do 1 on 1 training go to a class as this helps with socialization and working round other dogs most of your issues will be dealt with at classes

Hi and welcome
Have you tried using a puppy size Kong. This can slow down the time taken to eat the meal as it gives her more to think about. We use one with Rocky, and he says Hi too.

Hi sounds like you have your hands full.
Dont worry about the jumping up. she will calm with age. for now try not to give her atttention if she is jumping up hold her in a sitting position gently no need to force her she will learn. she will also learn to walk on the lead, again gently hold her close by your side while saying whatever it is you want to use as the command, I say come close, but stick with it each time she pulls gently pull her to your side again if you keep it up I bet she will inprove on one walk.
cheers

Re: Newbie here from westyorkshire
Hi and welcome from us and Suki.
To slow her eating down you can try placing a tennis ball or something else in her bowl so he will have to eat around it. When she jumps up she is sekking attention. Turn around and ignore her. They love attention and if they are not getting it they learn pretty quick.

i put a tennis ball in roxi`s bowl and it takes her a lot longer to eat shes exactly the same within 30 seconds its all gone! it took her a whole ten mins 2 eat the first time i did it... also if i were you id switch 2 dry food it takes them longer as they have too chew more and its good for thier teeth
