Just curious as im always having debates with people over the pros and cons of different dog food brands and so i was just curious as to what everyone on here uses and why they chose it

I use Hill's Science Plan Puppy as this is what the vet recommended. He is thriving on it and putting on a good amount of weight week by week so I am very pleased - I will probably go across to the Adult version when he gets to a year or so.

Saxon eats Canidae Lamb and Rice formula, but we may switch to Wellness Simple Solutions lamb and rice for his allergies.

Used to feed James Wellbeloved fish and rice, but moved over to Fish 4 Dogs as we wanted to check if the rice was causing allergy issues. Fish 4 Dogs is potato and fish instead see.

We also get treats, salmon oil and salmon moose from there too so just made more sence to get everything from the one place and get better discounts by doing so. Better food better price win win.

Rocky was on Burgess Sensitive when he was at the rescue centre so we carried on with that for a while.
He then stopped eating this so we then chose James Wellbeloved after trying a few samples.
He is thriving on this. He has 120g plus 80 - 100g of lean chicken per day. This does not work out as expensive as the price of JWB first appears, as you don't need a lot. Smile

We feed him all the different flavours and his two favourites are the duck and fish Smile

we've uses dr johns gold for ages as they seemed to love it but alately weve been trying different foods as they started going off it and weve tried the wainwrights which we might try in a different flavour than the salmon and potato and we also tried burgess adult and they really seem to like that although they pick the meaty bits out first lol

It's raw food, meat and bones I will find you a link if you are interested, caryll is the expert on this. But Billy was becoming very fussy with his food so we switched he now eats, all raw

Chicken wings, chicken necks, chicken carcass, ribs, chicken, beef, etc etc it is really cheap an can be very cheap if you feed mince, there are specialist suppliers on line as the food must be frozen first to kill the bacteria. I will go and find the link and post it

indigostaffs - Dr. Johns is a very poor quality food, if you have a decent sized freezer you wil find it will probably work out quite cheap to buy raw food for all your dogs.

Tinkerbell is on Wagg as she has been on this all her life. So we haven't changed her over to anything different yet. But I am looking about to try and find something to change her too, and think I will do so very soon. She seems to have some allergies, as her legs are very red looking and she itches a lot. And she has very smelly wind too lol. I have been looking at pero STB I think it was called and quite like the sound of that! Is anyone else's dogs on it?

do not give your dog cooked bones, they will snap and can cause choking, they should be raw

you can give all food raw to a dog

Waggs not tastic for dogs prone to allergies as is contains a fair amount of cereals, Pero SBT is meant to be very good, I know people on another forum who feed it and they swear by it. It also contains glucosamine which is good for joints and quite expesnive as a supplement on its own. Over all its a very good food Smile

Post by hollymolly Wed Sep 14 2011, 16:09

I swear by the raw food as Inca is a fussy little mare and she used to be on (well when she would eat it !) NatureDiet which she would tolerate but i could just tell she was slowly going of it and i swear you could hear her 'huff' when she would peak into her bowl only to find the NatureDiet in it.... So i asked on her for advice on what to tempt Inca back into eating her meals and the amount of people who recommended a Raw Diet swayed me into trying it .... And i haven't look back since as Inca CAN NOT GET ENOUGH of her chicken wings.. beef chunks.. heart chunks.. lamb ribs.. minced lamb.. minced beef..
I would highly recommend a raw food diet and Inca gives it the paw up aswell !! haha ....

Yes I have read on here how poor Wagg is but as we have only had her for around 5 weeks now we have left on the food she was being given by the previous owner. I have been reading up on that pero SBT food, as well as many others, so hoping to change her over in the next few weeks. She is a very fussy dog with food, so hoping to change her very slowly to Pero and fingers crossed she will accept it as it seems very good!
