millys teeth
Hi
Milly at the moment is still losing her baby teeth. She now has all the adult teeth at the top but we have noticed she still has her baby fangs and also her adult fangs Is this a common problem.and will she loose them herself or will we have to get the vet to pull them.at the moment she has 2 sets of fangs

Re: millys teeth
Billy had 2 set of fangs for a little while then the baby ones dropped out, so I don't think it is anything to worry about

Re: millys teeth
I would say just to keep an eye on them, I remeber our sheepdog had this problem, but the baby fangs dropped out a couple of weeks later!

They usually fall out on their iwn. I'm not sure where they go as we only found one.

Re: millys teeth
Nothing to worry about My lot had the same, Give her some frozen leather to have a good chew on and they will soon be out and it helps with soothing if its nice and cold from the freezer, but wait and see if they come out on their own first if not give her some leather untreated of course.
If their still there after she is a year old vets recommend removing them, wouldn't need to be put to sleep though, as the puppy teeth don't have roots and will come out with a little tug (done by a vet) as if you pull it wrong you could rip the gum open and cause mass infections etc

Jimi's are falling out at the moment, although a few days back I was folding a towel and he grabbed it and pulled at it, one of his canines came out. I'm not sure if it was loose, I can't see the adult tooth there. Am keeping an eye on it incase he does get some sort of infection.

Re: millys teeth
My Connecticut Cat, Zoey, had two sets of fangs when she was little. It was kind of neat. One set just fell out on their own.

Re: millys teeth
I agree with all the above unless you're going to show her. By leaving the milk teeth in, they could make the new teeth mis-placed. Nothing wrong with that from a health point of view (unless the adult canines are in-standing) but it'll affect placings in the show ring.
Take care that they don't start to grow in as if that happens they could make the roof of the mouth sore.
