""Turbo Cider
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Well this is as easy as it gets!
(called turbo as its so quick and easy)
Ingredients:
4.5L of pure apple juice
1tsp yeast
Method:
1. Place 3L of apple juice into a demijon (assumeing everything is sterile)
2. PLace 1tsp of yeast into the demijon
3. shake
4. leave for 36-48hrs to ferment then top with with the remaining of the juice (cant fill it right up at the start as it will foam quite a bit)
5. leave to ferment out
6. Rack off and drink (or if you like cider fizzy then prime as usual)
I have tried this and it was quite acceptable - similar to scrumpy rather than strongbow if you get my drift""
Gonna have a try at making this soon, seems easy, let you know what happens

Re: FAO Janey
Oooo, please do let me know how you go I think I'll give it a go too, although it will have to be done over the bath as I can imagine it can ferment a lot, what the hell is a 'demijon' though? Xx

Leave it out - the yeast will only work above a certain temperature.

I have to admit that I used to cheat! I bought the tins of home making fruit wine. They give you the 'must' in a can, with the yeast & a stabiliser. You have to get 2 x glass demijohns, a stopper with a hole in it & an air-bubble-thingy that goes in the top! Oh, and a length of rubber tubing to transer the wine from one demijohn to the other.
The wines were good, the cherry brandy fantastic, and the barley wine *hic* very potent!

Re: FAO Janey

Re: FAO Janey
I tried making peach wine from scratch once.
I pulped the fruit, mixed it with sugar & left it to start fermenting in a huge bowl to make a 'must'.
A few days later I went to have a look at it & found that the cover had slipped off & it had evaporated a bit. So I replaced the cover.
Went back a couple of days later & the same thing had happened. Then I realised it was my GSD, Major, who'd knocked the cover off & was helping himself!

what does this mean
6. Rack off and drink (or if you like cider fizzy then prime as usual)
prime as usual if you want fizzy cider

You can syphone off the still cider & drink it (it has to be syphones cause there'll be a sediment at the bottom), or you can add Priming Sugar (dextrose, basically) to the drink & re-stopper it for a while - it'll start to ferment again & will rpoduce gas, making it sparkling.

Re: FAO Janey
Ok Janey how I made the cider
Got 4 litres of apple juice, teaspoon of yeast, 120gm sugar
Heated up 1 litre on juice and added the sugar and simmered for about 5 mins
Added the rest of the juice, turned off the heat and added the yeast.
Left it in a big pan with the lid on cause I haven't got anything else, stirred occasionally.
Made this on sat tasted it on Sunday was lovely, then I forgot about it until tonight, tasted it again, ugh. Put it ins ome bottles put in the fridge and will taste again in a few days and hope it tastes better.
I don't know if it has gone off a bit cause the pan was not airtight, let you know
Think it might be easier to buy some
