Re: Luna
i was doing a bit of research on the Pitt bull terrier, The old Pitt bull terrier, the dog we call the staffy today, gave us the all white english bull terrier, this was formed around the 1860s in Birmingham by James Hinks. he crossed the original dog with the old english white terrier, which is now extinct, soon after the turn of the 20th century, the all white, fashionable bull terrier was crossed back to the Pitt bull terrier and a coloured variety of the former kind was evolved, being named the coloured bull terrier, unfortunately for the Pitt bull terrier, these breeds had the advantage over him in the matter of title. being the original bull terrier he should have had prior claim to that name. however, his existence through the 1800s had been obscure, and he had an evil reputation because of his fight prowess. He was never considered as a show dog, unlike is all white cousin which received kennel club blessing with the coming of dog shows in the last quarter of the 19th century. With this acceptance the all white was named bull terrier and our own breed lost the prerogative of the name to which he is by right entitled. However it was not till 1935, due to the representations to the kennel club by a small band of enthusiasts, that he was accepted to the registry of that august body as a purebred variety, under the title of staffordshire bull terrier. as it happens, his admirers these days have no quarrel with the name, for he was virtually evolved in the black country, the mining area of south staffordshire and it is felt the staffy has a proud and traditional title, which as a native breed suits him and which he deserves.

Cracking dog. There's one round the corner to me, a red & white one. Lovely bitch, very friendly. I just don't like the pushed in nose. A stafford's muzzle is the shortest I'd go for.

What a great dog you have. The AB is the best breed in the world, in my opinion. My first dog was an American Bulldog. Samson was 105 pounds of muscle who could run like the wind, jump, and turn corners like a Australian sheepdog.
Remember, there are two different types of AB, Johnson and Scott, named after the breeders who created each type. They differ in size and snout. I have met Alan Scott, who loved my first and former AB, Samson. Nice to have the godfather of the breed praise your dog. Samson was 75% Scott and 25% Johnson. Samson's jaws were so strong it was scary. He bit through, yes through!, the protective sleeve during his first day of protection training. That was his last day because as my breeder told me, dogs either have it or they don't. Samson had it, though I felt bad for the other 30 dog owners (Pits, Shepherds, Mals and Dobbies) who had spent a year trying to get their dogs to do what a year-old pup did on his first day. Protect its owner with one bite, release and go back to being happy when the threat retreated. His confidence made him able to do that, he was not aggressive to man or beast because he knew he had the right stuff. I miss him so.
Two weeks ago, we rescued a AB female, who I named Bella. Bella is all Johnson and a sweetheart. I see a lot of Samson in her, though she is 40 pounds lighter. She is pictured with part of the pack, behind the fake pig. Notice the Staffy pup, a little terror. I love to talk about AB's so contact me anytime.
