some help
don't know if i should be posting this here but i was just coming off the field and another dog got jett by the mouth and he yelped.i looked and theres a cut right under his eye,not that big but pretty deep.he whimpered all the way home.I've washed it out with salt water is this right? do i need to do anything else?
Re: some help
How bad is it? If its deep I personally would at least have a nurse check it because of infection. You've done the right thing though, and I am a worrier.

Re: some help
it's stopped bleeding now but he's lay on the floor next to me whining.could this be shock or because it hurts? I'm going to take him to the vets tomorrow because i don't have money at the moment. The dogs owner said he would pay the bill but I didn't think there would be any point and he didn't give me his details.
Re: some help
If somebody elses dog injured mine, I would definitely take their details as we all know how costly vet bills can get.
I would get it looked at also, but then I'm a worrier too Better to be safe than sorry, i say.
Hope Jett is doing ok. Keep us posted

Re: some help
They have a very high pain threshold so I would be a little worried if its bothering him, It could be shock I supppose but I doubt it. I would go to the vets if It was me, (you may qualify for some benifit now your out if work, pdsa)
I would have got the details although I doubt they would ever pay up. Sending cuddles Xx

Re: some help
I hope he is okay and I also think you should get it checked out because if the cut is deep it could be a puncture would. Suki gets cuts on occasion from headbutts and we just wash them out and sometimes use Neosporian to help it heal.

Re: some help
Poor little lad. I hope it isn't too serious, and he soon recovers from the nasty experience.

Re: some help
He will be fine, the amounts of cuts ive panicked about is unreal lol but like evryone says vet may give him a jab to stop infection. If i was you i would defo make a appointment with the nurse first as its free, if she says he needs to see a vet then fine x

You know your dog can sence your upset and worry and that may be why he wimpering as he knows your upset and woried. With a puncture wound you need to wash out with a antibiotic wash and then use a antibiotic cream to keep infection away

Re: some help
Right Ayden ring the PDSA because they pay the consulation fees towards the vets , And If your struggling with paying the vets , Tell them you will pay It In Instalments , Because you are unemployed and cant pay the bill all at once, But try go round park or wherever you saw this owner and hes dog , And get hes details and make him pay for It! If not try what I have Just told you! Normally vets are quite good they understand people are skint fot money these days , If they try force you to pay bill straight away , Say sorry I havent got money , Put I think most vets send you bill end of the month! Good luck!

Re: some help
Or try and find a PDSA vets, If you have 1 In your local area , Or you can get lift there and back, There a hell of alot cheaper than normal vets, And Just as good , We all know what a rip off the vets are, But we need them.

Re: some help
seems loads of dogs don't like jett. I'm contemplating whether or not to carry a stick on walks.this morning a boxer slipped the lead and got hold of him it took three of us to get it off and just after that german shepherd went for him. would it be a good idea to carry a stick or would it give me a bad image?
Re: some help
I think carrying a stick might be a good idea. You could use it like a walking stick so that people think that's what it's for. Poor guy! I hope he is ok!

Re: some help
My hubby always always carrys a stick when we walks the dogs. For Ty's sake really. As we live in a small village most people are considerate of each other and always put a lead on thier dogs when they see someone else coming then approach and ask if its ok to remove the lead but there are the odd few people who dont and although Ty is not to bad off lead with other dogs he knows he does not all all like being approached by a off lead dog when he is on the lead, he will snap and may bite to be honest so hubby shouts and puts the stick in the others dogs way to stop it going near Ty. He has had to use it to hit 3 boxers once who where attacking kaos but the boxers owners told him to do it. He wont leave the house without it when walking the dogs! x

Re: some help
just didn't want to come across the wrong way.I've already been stopped by police on numerous occasions and been asked by them if Jett is a pitbull. don't want to be seen as a "thug"

Re: some help
Cant believe the police, Stopping you asking If your dog Is a pitbull , Its funny how people ask questions straight away when It comes to dogs, But when It comes to catching heroin users and dealers, That are robing old grannys they do nothing, Or take ages to find the culpurates , Explained everything In this country about the police!
