Re: milly and another female staffy
The most commonly held opinion is that opposite sexes will get along better unless there is a considerable age gap. IMHO this isn't an all encompassing rule and there are exceptions but opposite sexes are the safer route to go with. There are a number of people here that have multiple dogs and will be able to provide better and more experienced advise on this subject.

I have two bitches and they get on fine. There is only a year between them and Ive had no issues.

dont worry about it!, mistakes happen! .. im sure a mod will help you out when the spot it
i'm no help as i have one of each, but when we decided to get another, we was always told opposite sex is the best idea .. but i have seen so many people have same sexes and no problems .. i saw a couple up the field by me the other week who had FIVE staffys mixed males and females

Re: milly and another female staffy
I think the general advice is a mixed pair, great news you are considering rescuing too, I've only had girls and 1 at a time.

Re: milly and another female staffy
Its not that they will definately end up fighting. If you are lucky enough to have one more dominant dog and one slightly more submissive chances are you will never have problems. Most people advise getting seperate sexes though as then there is no competition between the two for hierarchy at any point in their lives. Noones saying it will definately result in disaster, I have always kept more than one bitch together, but you do have to be careful and be ready to step in if they get funny with one another. I guess if you have your heart set on a girl and are prepared to put in the work then it doesnt make that much difference! It is just easier with dogs of the opposite sex

Re: milly and another female staffy
As already mentioned general advise is mixed pair, which is what we have done and still having a nightmare so far with a new male pup and 16 month old bitch.
Its alot of work, there are constantly "playing". Also going, through toilet training agen, teething agen, general training agen.
As for leaving them alone together, to be honest I wouldnt anyway, you may find they get along ok. But you may also come home one day to something you really dont want.
