Total newbie to the forum !
Hi iam leon, its nice to be on the forum with other staffy owners like myself
Like it says in the title iam a total newbie to this forum i only found it this morning and spent only around 10mins looking around then i had to get to work with the new recruit. So please do forgive me for not looking round more befor asking questions or knowing all the rules.
Anyway a little background i have a black with a little brindle staff called Rio who is 3, he hasnt got any papers. Hes good with other dogs+people just wants to greet them, hes pretty well behaved, just very exciteble and a bit silly at times. He was my first dog i got him from about 10 weeks old. Iam no dog expert but Rio has turned out fine only thing i would like to put a stop to for him is two things one is he can at times cry alot and the other thing i will tell you in a moment but heres a pic of Rio for now.
So 3 years with just me and him really then the last week or so i decided to look for a play mate for him and yesturday i got a all white bitch who is 1 with papers. Shes very hyper and playfull like most 1 year olds lol. I introduced her to Rio and they wer fine really just a couple of minor things. Such as rio trying to loose his virginty (if i can put it like that) she put him in his place which is good. Now the plan for today was get them both in my back yard to get to know each other play and so on. Which was going well just rio wudnt leave her alone till i noticed blood coming from rio's paw, took a closer look and it was coming from his vein in his claw and the pad has most of skin hanging off like a blister. So i have took him into his crate to calm down. Iam now here for a little advice i know i could read the forum and find loads of info but could people give some advice in here till i digest the forum a little more, post links to usefull info and so on it would be much appreciated. Iam currently reading a book on staffs at the moment too, it all helps. Well enough from me i will give you some more pics and talk to you all soon Leon

Hiya and welcome to the forum
Rio (love the name!) is a stunner, what a handsome boy! The girl is gorgeous too.
I'm not keen on any good links to info, but you can look in the training & behavior section, the health & nutrition and the chat section (etc.) to see if there are any useful tips to anything. We aren't experts on here, but do the best we can Hope you enjoy the forum!

Re: Total newbie to the forum !
Hi welcome to the forum, I wouldnt panic.
They will take a while to settle down he has had 3 years of your full attention and she is new and rescue with you having limited knowlage of her past.
My advise is get him down the vet to check that paw out am sure its fine but they might wanna just strap it up or put him on anti biotics to stop it getting infected.
I would advise never to leave them unattended together for any period of time as I would advise with any dog really as you may well come home to something you really dont wanna. But thats personal opinion alot of people like to leave there dogs together and they are fine, just think its a risk I dont wanna take personally even more so with dogs who once get into that fighting zone just dont stop.
So let um play and have fun together and interact but obviously under your watchful eye, expect a little chaos while they settle in and just browse this site for some other advise and ask if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the replys people
johneva sound advice cheers.
I came up with two names for the new family member which were stella and mittzy. My two year old daughter choose mittzy. Iv tried recalling her a bit this evening and she seems to have took to it. I worked on rio for a while and he is starting to get the message to leave her be.

Welcome aboard! Your pups are beautiful! Are you planning to have a litter? If not, I would get one or both of them spayed/neutered.

Re: Total newbie to the forum !
I recently introduced a girl to my 4 year old henry, but my girl is older she's 3. and I had them both de-sexed not long after we got her. they've got on great since. Unless you want pups I'd suggest getting them done. Might make you boy nasty if he cant get what he wants, he'll be frustrated.
They're both good looking dogs tho =D
