Suki has a UTI
Took Suki to the vet's yesterday and she was diagnosed with a urinarary tract infection. I didn't even notice the symtems but the better half caught it since our old dog had cystitis. It also seems that Suki has a mild case of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) from when she had her blood drawn for her allergy test . She tried to take a bite out of the vet a couple of times She was prescribed the standard antibiodic treatment so we'll see how it goes.

Well done Mrs Jstaff for catching it, and I hope it passes soon (excuse the pun) Xx

Re: Suki has a UTI
Yeah she makes me feel a little bad sometimes because I should catch this kind of thing. She was actually afraid of dogs when we met and now she's the primary handler for what most people consider a dangerous breed. I'm very proud of her.

Re: Suki has a UTI
She's mostly okay now and this round of antibiodics should knock it out. Seems as if every dog I've ever handled has had allergies and UTI issues

Thanks. I'm sure she will be okay but I have no luck with having a healthy dog. Never had a serious issue but still lots of trips to the vet.

Hope it clears up soon! And tell the Mrs (or she might just read it herself) that if it happens again and she notices it early it can usually be prevented by high doses of vitamin C. You want the non-acidic vitamin c which is gentler on the stomach, but it will still help acidify the urine which makes it hard for the bacteria to survive. I've done this both for myself and one of my dogs, and it helped in both cases. But if it's gotten serious you need to see a vet, obviously, so it's only good if you spot it early.

Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to mention it to the Mrs.
