Fruity Boy
Bruno is now 7 months and 6 days, And lately he has been humping legs, getting hold of shoes and trying to pull them off people's feet, Getting hold of trousers/jeans and is still mouthing people arms, We do tell him off with a firm no and i know we have to keep this up with him. Is he boundary testing us or is this just his age ? Is anyone else having this behaviour ? Otherwise apart from still jumping up at people and pulling and his poo and anything on the floor eating, he is brillant and loving puppy and wouldn't change him for the world

Re: Fruity Boy
The whole boundary testing thing is really BS and nothing you need to worry about. Dogs are very simple (as are humans) - they do what brings them the best benefits. This can be one of two things - getting a reward (attention, food, fun, whatever) or avoiding a punishment (getting yanked by the collar, a pinch in the ear, being ignored, basically anything the dog wants to avoid). But being very simple doesn't always mean easy. You need to either figure out what/who is rewarding him or start training him to behave correctly by rewarding him for the actions you want (not jumping, not pulling and so on). Make a list of the things you want to work on and choose one to start with - working at one problem at a time will make it much easier on all of you.
I would recommend reading a good book on dog training principles, that way it's much easier to see where you're making mistakes (dogs do what we teach them, but we're not always teaching them what we were hoping to). There are many options - this might be a good one because you have a money back guarantee for 56 days, and it's an e-book so you can just download it. http://www.canisclickertraining.com/clickertraining/

Re: Fruity Boy
I agree with addressing one behaviour at a time. Also you and everyone else in the house have to be consistent in what is allowed and what isn't.

Well harv is just over 6 months now and the 'humping' stage he had a while ago although it was only his blanket has passed but he has never tried humping anything else, but i agree with just keep telling him no etc but everyone must be consistent
