new to the forum

hi guys,just joined the forum and wanted to say how brill you all are,i have been reading loads of stuff on here thats helped loads the last couple of weeks,just wondered what you think of this situation.we have had sasha for 7 years now and she is our baby,she sleeps with us,cuddles up on the sofa,i dont know if she know's her self she's a dog!well 2 weeks ago we went and turned her world up side down,my son and his girl friend(that live with us)brought home a 7 week old male staff pup!we had talked for years about getting another one as we love the breed but there never was the right time,well he's here now and dont we know it!where its their pup they doing all the nasty getting up in the middle of the nite bit,suits me fine!he is gorgous,his name is alfie and red in color.problem is sasha,she so put out.she was so in his face at first,standing over him,circling him,hackles up n snarling,she is getting better,either runs away from him now or rough play with him,help do you ever think they will get on!she has't had alot to do with other dogs,never been agresive if she meets one when we out walking,the pups just as bad though,if she takes no notice of him he barks at her or starts on her,its like having to naughty children!thanks for listening,any advise be brill.

Hi and welcome to the forum i had this when i got kaiser because i still lived with my mum we had are older dog to think about who sadly aint with us no more she was 12 when we got kaiser and she was the same use to get a bit jealous but she never harmed she loved him in the end just got jealous now and then. My fellas dog was old too she was 14 when we got him she use to growl at him even had a bit of ago but never actually bit him just a warning shot at him really she never got use to it really just little growls at him now and then i wouldnnt worry to much yet as im sure they will probably turn out to be the best of friends she probably just feels like she has had her nose pushed out

Never had 2 so not much help, hopefully pup will settle in time, and also be accepted, hiya and welcome

hi thanx for the quick reply,the pup has got his 2nd jab 2 morrow and then other week after and he can go out,i'm hoping once they can go out for walks together it will help,i hate it being like it,i folishly thought that sasha might have mummyed him,how wrong was i!she seems to instigate situations,like waving a toy in his face then running of with it!i dont know who is worse!the pup is so strong willed he wont give up either!

I'd hope that once they get out together they will bond, and a relationship will grow, Sasha has just had her home taken over! As I said i've never had 2 dogs but after time they'll get there, even if there never the best of friends Xx

ah am so hoping they will be,giving her double the amount of loving at the mo,which am hoping is the right thing to do,just feel so mean if i tell her off cos she's been mean to the pup.ie taking every thing he has away,he's not even allowed a bit of paper to chew and we all know how they like paper when they are pups!

Try not to make preference to one and not other. Suppose like kids, treat them the same Xx early days, they will learn

Hi and welcome from us and Suki. You're older dog is probally just reacting to having a new dog in her home and could feel jealous and unsure. Once they walk together that should help in the bonding a bit.

hi all and thank all for the welcome and advise,well we had some positive play today,sasha was playing really well bum up in the air,wagging her tail,then it all went wrong!alfie puppy bit her hard n she really went for him,end off play time he knew he had over stepped the mark though,will they ever get on?puppy had his 2nd injection today and the vet said it was another 2 weeks before he could go out,i thought it was normally a week?

They will get on.........I hope! Some vets say a week some 2, just keep doing what your doing and intervene when needed. Being stuck indoors is so frustrating for all

hi janey,it is really frustrating cos im sure once they can get out and about it will be soo much better,we just got back from the fields and the girl across the road was up there with her female staff and sasha loved running and playing with her,so i know she can be nice
