HELP!!!!

as some of you know me and my girlfriend has split and its getting nasty but theres a dog involved which i was gonna get back today............... but my ex,s 4 year old and the dog are like soul mates and hes distraught that rocky may be comin with me and they are insepreble, there like 2 peas in a pod he loves rocky its the first thing he says wen he wakes up and there always together its not the kids fault we split.........do i still take the dog or do i leave him with her and the kids its breaking me down, im not a nasty person and i dont want her boy to hate me for taking his best mate away ........................im lost

It must be so hard always is when there are kids involved I do not know what to tell you it is really hard think you have to do what is best for Rocky and you know him better than anyone. Hope you get sorted DK xx

I think TBH you have to put rocky first, the kid will get over it and grow up from it

i no it mite sound nasty but the little one will get over it kids always do if it was me there is no way i could live without my dog

im with giblet and ella - dog comes first. again may sound harsh and i really dont mean to be but he is your dog, she will have to manage the fall out with her son and explain why rocky isnt around anymore. he is 4 and will soon forget, or get her own dog for him

Don't think I could ever give my dog away. But considering Suki likes the better half more than me I try to be the best husband that I can.

I think I agree with you all. First, I was not sure which was better for Rocky, but I think you guys have a valid point. Kids grow and get over what they used to be attached to, find other fun to do, and forget about things like dogs. But you are/will be always there for Rocky no matter what, right? Dogs should be with people who are comitted to them.

pleeeeeeeeease , baring in mind this break up has nothing to do with the boy....... so im not just upsetting her 4 year old but im also gonna f...ck rockys head up too ... i want him dont get me wrong but rocky cant say to me , hang on dad not being funny but i really like ky and wanna grow up with him...thats why im worried, i just cant have him how do i know rocky dont need ky......... how do i know its not ky wats making rocky a beautiffull dog....... like i said im LOST!!!!

A 4 year old will most certenely remember his beloved dog being taken away he didnt ask for any of this.
Dk were will rocky be most happy? its not fair to have him with you if he is going to be left all day on his own while you work/sociolise when he may be used to having company all day.
Who can afford him feed /vets /care/ excercise
Could you not work something out were you both get the chance to have a relationship with rocky.
My youngest son and my boy were inseperable when he lived at home he visits regular and they have a bond that will never be broken duke had the best time of his life .

I agree... he's only 4 he'll hardly remember Rocky when he is older, yeah he'll miss him for a couple of weeks maybe only a couple of days but he'll get over it.

you need Rocky more - for your sanity!


*edit* I posted that before I read all responses and yeah I guess you do need to think hard about where Rocky would benefit more from. sorry such a hard decision.

Can you have him at the weekends till things get sorted properly you dint want to make a rash decision

a tricky one indeed.. I guess the main thing is you have to make sure that Rocky will still be well looked after , and yes maybe you could have weekend access or similar of Rocky so you still get to see him..

everyones helping venessa, wat i may do is have rocky with me cus hes starting to fill out now and i think hes gonna be to much for her anyway, then i may buy him a dog a little jack or something so hes got a mate again

good idea. I guess a big strong staffy is no match for a young child either.. no matter how gentle Rocky is!! Winston is only 4 and a half months and he is ready to take on the world with his strength and might !!
Really hope it all works out for you and the kid and Rocky.
