Yay tizzy can sit, sorta lol
I thought it may be quite hard to try and train tizzy at the moment due to the extent of her biting but I thought I'd give it a go anyway so have done over the last few days.
Well she can basically sit now, ive been using little treats and rolling them up over her head so she sits and saying 'sit' then rewarding her.
Tonight I could get her to sit by saying sit after doing the above once. I got down on my knees and would move around the floor so she had to get up and come to me then saying sit, she would sit! Yay!!
I even got up and did it, again same result and I thought I'd push it and just say sit with no treat and yep she said (I gave lots of praise though).
When I use the treats as she can smell them she sometimes tries to jump up, so what I have been saying is down and correcting her into the sit position then saying sit and rewarding.
Is that the right thing to do?

I can't get her to concentrate unless I've got a treat! She just thinks it's playtime to bite me otherwise. Lol
As the treats seem to be working I don't mind using them, I'd rather she learnt with a treat than her not learn at all lol.

You have to do what works, and if its working thats great! At seven weeks, and obeying commands, your certainly doing something right

What a star she is!
They soon forgive you for letting the vet jab a needle into them, don't they?

Well I grabbed up her blanket and put it in the carrier, I didn't know till we got into the vets that she had wrapped a bone up in it so she was otherwise occupied LOL

Re: Yay tizzy can sit, sorta lol
That's great! Sounds like you're working well together. I'd recommend doing the "it's yer choice" game to teach her that treats are to be earned rather than stolen. It teaches them impulse control, which IME is of great value when dealing with staffie puppies. You find it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipT5k1gaXhc Gummi has just learned the basics, but hopefully we'll try the more advanced steps soon. The other day I offered him the remaining treats in the treat bowl I use when training and he just sat down expecting me to hand feed them to him. Not my intention at all, but he really showed he'd gotten the point.
Re: Yay tizzy can sit, sorta lol
Funnily enough I watched the it's yer choice on here earlier!
I did try it lol, she mouthed, bite and clawed at my hand but she did make a choice a couple of timesvto sit and not do the above which I rewarded her for, so I was quite pleased!

We use treats all the time. Suki is really motaivated by food. We even keep some of her dry food with us on walks to get her attention if she is focused on a dog or bird or other distraction to get her attention.
