I'm a bit snap happy

Today I found a basketball at Kmart for $6 bargain! and today.. when I got home from Kmart, I discovered what makes Russell go crazy!
he was seriously crazy to the point that he was yelping and wimpering at the ball while dragging it around and jumping on it, I had to confiscate it because he almost seemed distressed... I think short periods of time with the ball will do him fine










i dont know how he managed to pick it up but he got it onto the couch!


also - does any one know is this kind of behaviour normal for Staffys? to be so obsessed and psycho over a ball? I think it may have been because he couldn't pick it up properly that he was getting frustrated?

yep more than normal - woody is exactly the same and he has to have it in short spells. its his good behaviour treat!

aah good idea using it as a treat!!! haha I couldn't believe how much he loved it! no other toy has the same power lol!

i give it him for a bit and let him go mental and then put it out of reach. the basketball woody had didnt last long!

Hi Meg.... Roxy likes the larger size balls too, normal size tennis balls just don't have the same spell on her.
I noticed you're in Aus too and thought I would let you know that City Farmers sell tennis balls the size of basketballs , and in Big W sporting section you can buy a ball like a tennis ball but mid-way between the size of an ordinary tennis ball and the size of a basketball. This one would by far be her fave.

yeah well... Russell has had two ten minute playtimes with his basket ball and it has already deflated... I think I'll have to invest in something a bit more staffy proof

I hadn't heard of city farmers so I googled it, theyre only in WA and QLD :-( looks like a good store!!!

Russel is so lovely and shiney in all the photos. He was loving that ball wasn't he !!

I have seen the giant tennis balls in a shop called Red Dot as well.( abit like the Reject Shop ) I got Jethro a basketball years ago and Tony pumped it up really really hard... 30 seconds after we gave it to him we heard pppssstttt............ that was the end of that !! I can highly recommend the staffy ball when Russel gets bigger.

awwww how cute!! .. Vinnie is exactly the same when i finds ROCKS! lmao .. he crys, pounces and barks at them untill he eventually manages to pick em' up and he will wonder round the garden with it untill we have to physically get it off him! lol

how long does basketball last?

I found one over the park (there's a basketball court stuck right in the middle for some reason) and it lasted Dempsey about 30 seconds before I heard the inevitable pssssssttt!

Russell is too cute!! Saxon always gets really excited and obsessed with new toys. He loves to show off new toys and play keep away.

Russell is so cute! Especially with Gus,he's the same with balls and new toys,goes nuts playing with them. He gets mad at bigger ball toys because he can't get his teeth around them

Got Suki a soccer ball today since they were 1/2 off. It lasted less than a minute
