Hello everyone
Hi everyone, I have a beautiful brindle staffy and wanted to join as I have a slight problem.
We have a cockapoo and they have been fine together since they were 9 months old (when we got them)
Unfortunately the other night the cockapoo growled at the staffy a bit too much and they came together. The Cockapoo I think got caught on the inside of the nose and there was blood everywhere.
My first thought was my kids but also the fact that the guarding of the bone behaviour from the cockapoo made it worse and I as the leader (in the moment) didn’t correct this growling behaviour. Our staffy literally just walked into the room. If I’m honest I think she just had enough and told the dog in her way to pack it in. I don’t want to give her up and have introduced the dogs back together slowly by walking them, removing all bones/toys and having them in a crate while the other gets some free time and the other stays and vice versa. I have bought a muzzle too because I plan on training them to be ok in the very situation that caused it all but I don’t know whether to correct the cockapoos guarding behaviour or the staffys “I have had enough” behaviour. All of your experiences and help will obviously be appreciated and I apologise for the long post.
