RIP Venus
I made a post last week about some health concerns relating to our staffy - Venus. She was very unwell and we thought it was constipation at the time, but she deteriorated rapidly. I deleted the post as the advice was no longer needed.
A couple of nights ago we were concerned enough to get her to an emergency vet who found she had fluid around her heart and wouldn't have made it through the night had we not got her there. They drained the sac and referred us to our own vets who then referred us on to an amazing cardiac specialist who performed various tests to find out what was causing it.
Sadly, it was cancer around her heart and other than chemo, which may have prolonged her life but not made her feel good, there was nothing they could do.
Having had her back from the brink the night before we were absolutely devastated. The specialist thought she'd have days to weeks left so we opted to bring her home - hoping a good nights sleep would mean she felt ok to stick around a bit longer.
Unfortunately, last night her breathing was really shallow and she was clearly uncomfortable. This morning she was breathing heavier but not better - and she could barely sleep.
We had to make the decision nobody wants to make and she passed away gently at the Vets this afternoon.
The shock and loss we feel is beyond words. Never been so devastated in my life.
Venus was a beautiful girl, so loving and gentle. Always loved sleeping in our bed with us, sitting with my whilst i worked, begging for treats and ignoring her "sister" (our other dog).
She was so attached to me that i've barely had a minute without her since we got her as a rescue two and a half years ago.
I can't put into words how loving and special her personality was - so unique. I absolutely adored her and she me (and the rest of our family).
Feel i just need to share a bit about her so she's known about and remembered.
Have no idea how to process any of this but we know she's not suffering now but this is traumatic. That said, it should be - the love was genuinely the most amazing thing we've ever known.
Were so lucky to be able to spend time today staring into her eyes, talking to her and showing her love with strokes and very gentle tummy rubs.
She kept licking away our tears and that was her last act before she passed - licking my face to comfort me.
RIP you amazing, beautiful girl. We'll love you forever.

I was not expecting this kind of outcome to your initial post that I had read.
