Help Please
Hi
I am on this forum on behalf of my friend, she is Spanish and doesn't speak English.
She lives in Tenerife but is having to relocate to the UK, she has an American Staffordshire Terrier.
We have looked in so many places on the rules and regulations, what is allowed and what is not but we cannot find anything specific.
Does anyone have any official information on whether she will be able to relocate to the UK with her dog. Of course she doesn't want to give the dog up for adoption but she doesn't want to risk going to the UK and having to give the dog up. If it means that she has to she wants to have time to find it a loving home.
Thanks in Advance

Re: Help Please
Hello & welcome .
I'm sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but American Staffordshire Terriers (AmStaffs), being the show version of the pit bull, are banned in the UK.
I'm afraid that if she entered the UK with her dog, he could be seized & put to sleep. A stupid, stupid law, but there it is.

Hello and welcome.
I’ve had a quick look and I found the same information, that the breed is banned in the UK. Pedigree papers don’t make a difference and some “miracle” cases are tolerated after a vet assessment but the conditions are strict

Hi
Thank you very much I will pass this information on.
Looks like she is unfortunately going to have to find a home for the dog

Re: Help Please
It’s always a heartbreaking decision to make but at least she has a little time and the choice of his future family.
Anything is better than being separated on arrival on UK ground by the authorities ...
Wish her good luck, and lots of courage.

Re: Help Please
Exactly that is what she doesn't want to happen.
Unfortunately she has to relocate due to family reasons and giving the dog to someone else is her last option .
Thanks for all the advice
