Injured Big scare, emergency vet

Post by Nifty staffy Wed Jul 01 2020, 19:40

Had to rush Opium to the vets tonight as she started to produce patches of rash and head swelling Surprised
Vet confirmed allergic reaction but cannot say to what.
She had a cortisone injection and was prescribed extra cuddles tonight.

Injection appears to be very effective and practically no more signs of swelling a couple of hours later - phew !
Keep an eye on your loved ones, especially the canine ones Big scare, emergency vet 3198918699

I don’t know what she reacted to and that worries me.
Especially as the hives and swelling started at least an hour or 2 after exposure as we had been vegging out on the sofa after a spot of gardening.

All back to normal this morning, I’m pleased to report Smile

How scary!

Could she have been stung?

I don’t think so as she had hives on the top of her head, on her side and on her hip. Her eyes were becoming swollen too.
I would have thought that an insect sting would have a quicker allergic reaction, they do on me anyways Blushing

Glad she's better today Smile I would have a look round the garden to see if you can figure out what it was. Could easily be a plant, lots in the garden can be dangerous to pups!
