Bella and Duke
Hi,
We have switched Nero to a Bella and Duke raw food diet, he is 10 weeks old.He appears to enjoy it but our Vet has recommended that we don’t use raw until he is at least 1 year old as there has not been enough research into its long term effects on puppies.
Any thoughts ?.

Re: Bella and Duke
If you're going raw, always use a puppy specific raw food. Do Bella & Duke do one?

Re: Bella and Duke
Is that raw or barf ?
I would be guessing that the vet is worried the feed isn’t balanced enough for a growing puppy and they’re worried about deficiencies that could affect growth short and/or long term

It’s raw, but reviews are very good and he doesn’t smell anymore as he did while eating Bakers puppy food. His poo is regular and he looks really good.

Re: Bella and Duke
If that’s purina bakers puppy kibble, it has a nutritional rating of 23% so almost anything is going to be better than that.
I’d be tempted to say to go with your research and how your puppy is doing. Most vets rely on their clinic-chosen brand of kibble so that’s the safest option for them.

It's BARF.
It's a good food - my only criticism is that they don't do single protein foods (as far as I know), so if your dog shows an intolerance of something, it will be hard to pinpoint. However, if your pup does well on it, great!

Re: Bella and Duke
Ok,again thanks for all your help, we are going to stick with it as he seems really happy with it,has good weight gain,a settled stomach and a fab looking coat, only downside is he goes bonkers for about an hour after eating,we are beginning to wonder if we should have called him “Bonkers”
