Bye Billy
Sorry its been a long time from i was here, but i wanted to let you all know Billy passed away in February.
My beloved aunt passed away in September, which was a very tough time for us..we eventually decided to book a last min holiday to sort of get away from it all for the end of Feb but then the thought occurred who would look after Billy (my aunt always came to house/dog sit) it was settled that my uncle would take him, which was okay but he had slowed down a lot in the months after my aunt passed. I took him to the vets in Jan just for a check up and general "how is he" type thing because i felt his arthritis was getting a lot worse as he had fallen over a few times and the loxicom wasn't doing much anymore and tests showed his heart murmur had gotten a lot worse so he was put on vetmedin but whilst there he did a large pee and later that night the vet called me to say she had just decided to test it as it was there, and found it was basically just water. This in her experience meant he basically had seriously bad kidney function and coupled with the fact he had a bloated belly meant he was very much in kidney failure. He couldn't get anymore/harsher painkillers for the arthritis because of this, and the fact his heart was also starting to fail made me kind of make the decision. Vet said the vetmedin will either make him better or will quickly make him feel worse...and that week after he went down hill so badly. He would fall over and was just depressed. I had quite a week of arguments with my mum about it all because she was still so heart broken over her sister she didn't want to face things but eventually she came around to my thinking and we decided that Billy going to my uncles for two weeks would be just far too stressful for him in his current condition so we cooked a special roast beef dinner for him and he went to sleep.
It was heartbreaking. Thats all i can say about it. But it was right.. i was stressing out so much about him i was not going to go on the holiday (and i wouldn't have if his prognosis had of been better) but i think it was the right time. Unfortunately when on holiday we got a call to say my dads sister had passed away so all in all it was a shitty holiday anyway but hey ho this is not the post for all my drama..
RIP Billy. You were a wonderful wonderful boy..You literally lived everyday thanking us for rescuing you not knowing that it was US who got the enjoyment from you and that absolutely no thanks was needed. We miss you.

Re: Bye Billy
Oh Hayley, so so sorry to read this.
Billy and you were very lucky to have found each other and I know the times spent together were the best.
Rest in peace Billy, and to your family members too.
Wishing you brighter days ahead

Re: Bye Billy
Thanks everyone. Its very strange being dog free for the first time in my life, but things have been so busy we don't really miss it, there is no void to fill as we have so many horses now to take time up. One thing i do miss a dog for though is stray cat control - its getting a bit out of control and my own cat has needed 4 vet trips in a month because of a recurring tom cat attack. Ive had to ask family with dogs to come out and let them pee/scent about etc but cant keep them for a few days to chase anything off as we ripped out all our dog fences so its not a contained yard anymore.
