Hip Dysplasia
Franky will be 5 in May and the late few months he has been having health problems!
He’s had Cystine crystals which caused a blockage in his urethra and needed a specialist veterinary surgeon to carry out the operation – he is now OK and his diet has been change to - Hills Prescription Diet U/D Urinary Care Canine Dry
We then noticed few weeks ago that he was going upstairs very slowly so again took him to the vet and Xrays were recommended. These were done yesterday and it confirmed that he has hip dysplasia of both hips. Although miner at the moment we need to keep an eye on things and he will carry on taking Metacam (Oral Suspension) until further notice/ gentle walking for only 20 minutes a day and discourage jumping and running.
We have given him Healthy Hounds 100% Pure Scottish Salmon Oil Omega 3 Supplement daily for about 3 yrs - the vet has prescribed Synoquin EFA which encourages the growth and maintenance of cartilage and healthy joint formation.
Question
1 - Does anyone use this?
2 – Should I still give the salmon oil “I will be seeing my vet on Monday but wanted your opinion “
