Elsa is almost 6 months old. She is doing fine. Tomorrow she is getting fixed. We have a great vet and it should be fine. Now, how to keep an active puppy from not chewing her stitches. We will have pain meds our vet with give us. We are going to try the dog cone. My wife has off Thurs when I am at work and we are off for 3 days after to watch Elsa.

Elsa will be absolutely fine after her op, Katy didn't bother with her stitches at all. After her 1st drowsy evening she was back to her usual self wanting to play tug o war Surprised Just keep an eye on her & not let her jump up onto anything!!

Hope everything went well for Elsa today. Smile

Before resorting to the cone of shame, maybe try a dog shirt/body like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Medical-Pet-Shirts-Shirt-Medium/dp/B00ID7PDUY/ref=sr_1_8?crid=21JPFC91QU5Y&keywords=dog+medical+vest&qid=1555522066&s=gateway&sprefix=Dog+medica%2Caps%2C167&sr=8-8

PS. Most of the time it’s not preventing them from fiddling with the stitches which is the hardest, but keeping them calm for the 10 days after surgery ! Don’t forget toilet runs on a lead to prevent zoomies and avoid her jumping up, as Jen has already said.

I’ll be thinking of you, my Opium is currently in her bed recovering from the anaesthetic.

Thanks all. Our vet starts his surgeries at 1pm. I am not sure how many he has or when she will be done. They told us to call after 4pm. We will go and get her when they tell us, probably later this evening.
Yep, potty breaks on her leash. She likes to jump but she might not now with being on meds or sore. Trish bought her a donut type thing, not sure how to explain and she will try this. With our past dogs we did try t-shirt option. We'll just have to see how it goes.  Since, my wife works at a rescue and they do tons of spays and neuters, she is well experienced on what to look for. I on the other hand will be probably babying Elsa. Smile

I also have an inflatable donut but didn’t need it for Nifty.
We’ll see for Opium.

I’m sure Elsa will be fine. The 24hours after surgery (post anaesthetic) are the most unpleasant for a human to watch

Elsa did fine. She is home. She slept all night last night and a bit groggy but today she is getting to be more herself.

That’s good to hear Smile
Opium starting drinking a fair bit as from last night. She appears to have eliminated all traces of anaesthetic.
1 day down, 9 more “quiet” to go and definitely counting !! Straight Face

She is back to her normal self. After the surgery day and the next day it took her to recover. Now she is back to her old self, playing etc. Our vet did a great job. She doesn't seem to want to lick it. It's been 4 days now. We are all going away on Thursday and we'll have her crate for the event. The greyhounds we'll have in an X-Large Xpen. We are vending at a greyhound event. Lots of greyhounds and people to pet them. Smile

Good to hear she is doing well Smile

Opium is also “back to normal” except that she’s wearing a shirt at all times to keep her off the wound but it also is keeping her a tad calmer.
We’ve done half of our house rest time before stitches are out on Saturday.
