New pup coming soon :)
So ive been looking to buy a staffy for a while, i would ring up and get told "Sorry mate, all gone"
Last week i was told, yea we have 2 left! i told them i am on my way (even though on my way was a 90 mins drive.)
When i arrived i was greeted by both parents, first who in typical Staffy fashion was excited to greet someone new and get a bit of fussing
after a minute or so the female was happy with her little fussing over.... however i got the impression the male would have liked to keep playing all night lol
i noticed both parents looked healthy, happy and well looked after
I made my way to the pups (4 weeks old and 8 of them) and asked which ones are left and the owner picked them out.
1 male and 1 female, i wasn't swayed by gender either way and only went for the male for the markings really tbh
the female was completely brindle, the male had white paws and a white tip on his tail.
after playing with the pup and both parents for about 30 mins i paid a £50 deposit and left.
I am invited back on the 27th to pick him up, and i cant wait for the new addition to my family.
The nearest pet shop to my house is a Pets at Home superstore, 5 mins walk from the house.
i went for a walk round yesterday to get acquainted with products/foods etc i even questioned the staff who i must admit was more helpful than i expected.
Food i am looking at is either James Wellbeloved or the own brand Wainwrights, i also need to find out what the puppy is being fed at the moment, cant believe i didn't ask to be honest.
do other Staffy owner have issues with either of these products?
I did look at AVA, the packaging read is encouraging but i notice some forum users dont like it?
Insurance being pushed at PAH is Pet Plan, after filling in the quote its £17 a month for the 12 month plan, although i had already got a £4.23 a month quote from Animal Friends (through Compare the Market quote)
Does anyone have any comment on this company as ive not heard of them?
Anyway, thats about it
I will post pictures once he arrives home and will continue to read your comments and view your photos until then

Re: New pup coming soon :)
Sounds like you're well on your way to being owned by a Staffy
Great to read that you've seen both parents and both look healthy and happy, it is important.
James Wellbeloved & Wainwrights are what we feed our girl, a mixture of both but you'll work out what suits with trial and error. It is also important to change the food slowly so as not to upset the tummy.
As for insurance, I'm not the best to ask as I've had a bad experience but always look for whole life cover which would include on-going medication.
Looking forward to seeing some pics of your new addition

Re: New pup coming soon :)
Lovely to hear you have a new best friend on their way soon.
We used to feed James Wellbeloved but after a while Misty went off it but it was a nice food. She's on Orijen now which she devours!!
With insurance she used to be on Homebase which changed to Argos insurance for life however they kept putting it up each year even though we never claimed. We have now gone to a basic insurance with Animal Friends and we also have Dogs Trust membership which gives us liability insurance.
Cant wait to see pics of your new friend.

Re: New pup coming soon :)
Hi. Sorry to be a killjoy, but is your pup registered & have the parents had the necessary DNA tests for genetic problems in Staffords?
Also, how old will your pup be on 28th? It's illegal now to let pups go before 8 weeks!

Re: New pup coming soon :)
very exciting times ahead I've fed Katy Wainwrights since I got here. previous owners had her on bakers!!!
As for insurance, sore issue here. Katy's renewal came through this week & its up £130 on last year!!! I've never made a claim Decision made, I will open another account to put money aside for the just in case scenario!

I'm not sure why but just sometimes system picks on a random victim and makes them wait before posting images. Can you try again after a few more posts? If you can think of any photos we might want to see...
