Heatwave, getting complicated
Fed up of these temperatures up in the 30s for weeks and weeks now.
Took Nifty for a walk by the lake this morning, early whilst the day was still “fresh”
She only managed 5kms yet it was 24 degrees when we came home.
This evening, disgusted to see several people walking their dogs with 30 degrees, on tarmac that has heated up all day in the sun. Great recipe for dehydrated pooch with very sore burnt paws

Re: Heatwave, getting complicated
I get so upset seeing dogs being walked during the day. I've seen so many being walked around lunch time. This weather is too much for Misty, we have changed her walks now so I take her out between five and six each morning. She struggles in this heat so much. It's so boring as there are so many places I'd like to take her but we can't as it's too hot.

It's so hard to give our babies enough exercise but not in the heat. Tonight at 1am it's still going to be over 15 degrees!! I must say Katy is actually using her paddling pool more lately

We are very lucky we've got the woods near us, you can do a 45 minute walk barely leaving the shade so we do manage to walk slightly later. Even then we're back by 10.
Some people just don't think, do they?

Nifty does make the most of morning zoomies in the garden whilst I’m doing the horses. At 5am this morning, it was 17 degrees.
At the moment, she’s stretched out on her sofa, quietly snoring away
Not to stereotype but unfortunately, most of those I see walking their dogs at the wrong time of the day are very lightly dressed elderly folk with small overweight pooches ...

Chaos says he doesn't notice much what others are doing in the afternoons, he's too busy lying in front of the fan!

Katy is lying in front of all the fans as she moves round the house My friend & I drove the dogs to the woods rather than traipse across 3 fields in the heat to get to them! Then straight in the paddling pool when she got home

Re: Heatwave, getting complicated
People never learn. How many times do we hear advice about dogs not going out in the heat? It's so nice before 8, when both you and your dog can have a stroll while it's still cool, and yet you see doges in 30c+ temperatures out in the town centre, walking on hot pavements! And to cap it all, we are still hearing of dogs being rescued from parked cars!
