Prednisone
Hey guys,
Anyone’s staff been on prednisone and got ridiculously hungry/greedy asif he hasn’t had a meal in days? He often goes through phases of this now and again without being on medication but it’s worse than it’s ever been since he got put on this for him itching. He’s been wormed within the last few weeks too and been checking his poop so not worms. Just wanting to know if it’s a common side effect so can just bare with if it is.

Re: Prednisone
Isn't prednisone a steroid drug? If so, one of the main side effects is increased appetite. Just be careful he doesn't over eat!
Is there nothing else that helps?

Re: Prednisone
Yeah he has just been given it for 2 weeks to calm the itching down and he had cut himself then we will be going to talk about what to do next. We aren’t feeding him anymore than he usually gets he’s just begging constantly and sniffing everywhere and checking for crumbs and looking on our hands etc and last night he bolted outside to eat all the bread I’d put on the grass for the birds.. he was eating it like we had been starving him! So it’s getting quite annoying but if I know that’s the cause I don’t need to be concerned there’s anything else wrong with him.

Re: Prednisone
It's a common side effect - I'm surprised your vet didn't mention it.
